Default Joe. R. "Chief" Ponce

Sorry, I am new to the forum. So please excuse any errors I may make. My father served in the Marine Corp during WWII. He served with a dive bomber squadon named VMSB 133. He was in Boungville, Guadacanal, Salomon Islands, Johnson Island, Esprito Santos and other locations in the South Pacific. He basiced out of El Toro and Jacksonville, Florida 1942. He shipped over seas in August of 1943. Stopped at Pearl Harbor then went on to the Pacific Campaign. He was Honorably Discharged in 1945 with the rank of Cpl. He spoke of several friends he knew while in the corp. Their names and pictures are included in the photos I will be posting. If anyone checks these pictures out and recognizes someone or has pictures of my father or remembers or recalls any information please post a message back or email me. Names I remembered that my father told me about; A native American "Chief" and he was a barber, Bartlet, Podschwit (Harold), Soproski (could be misspelled).

My name is also Joe J Ponce, but i am Jr. I also served in the armed forces and was honorably discharged in 1973 from the Army. If you have any info please message me back, I've always wanted to learn more of my fathers military life and friends. Semper Fidelis.

The world is really not that big. Thank you for responding to my Thread. I know it will be had to find old Marines, but it's worth the try.

Yes, I have many pictures of several other Marines during training for overseas duty. The dates vary from 1942-45. My father passed away 1988. One of his Marine buddies attended his funeral. (Harold). My Dad would be 86 this year if he had not passed away. I served with CoA. 1st Btln 141st infantry (Army) 1967-1973. Trained in Ft. Ord California and trained advance infantry at Tiger Land-Ft. Polk LA. Also have pictures from that era. Stayed state side Hardship case -Only son in family. D.D. out Ft. Hood, Texas
