Robert K. Knapp
(1926 - 2008)

BOGART, Ga. - Robert K. Knapp, 81, of Bogart and formerly of Defiance, Ohio, died Friday morning at the St. MaryÕs Hospice House, Bogart. Born June 28, 1926, at Napoleon, Ohio, to Emma (Shiaria) and Noah Knapp, he married Betty M. Kasky on June 4, 1947, and she preceded him in death on Jan. 21, 1987.
He retired in 1976 from the G.M. Powertrain Plant, Defiance, after 26 years of service.
A World War II Navy veteran, he was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, Napoleon, and a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3360 and the ElkÕs Lodge 147, both of Defiance. He was a member of the U.A.W. Union No. 211, Defiance.
Surviving is a son, Steve (Laura Wright) Knapp of Bogart; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Richard, Harold, Charles and Virgil Knapp; and two sisters, Francis Knapp and Lois Knapp. Visitation will be Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. in the Walker Mortuary, Napoleon.
Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the mortuary with the Rev. David MacDonald to officiate. Interment will be in Riverview Memory Gardens, rural Defiance County, where military honors will be accorded by the Defiance VFW Post.
Memorials may be made to the St. MaryÕs Hospice House, 1660 Jennings Mill Rd., Bogart, GA 30622.
