Kathleen B. Link (nee Barber), of Gaithersburg, died Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2009, at home. She was born March 24, 1915, in Western New York, the daughter of Oscar Todd and Elsie Kennedy Barber.


She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 59 years, Conrad B. Link; mother of Helen Chang, Leora (Michael) Caporaletti and the Rev. Conrad O. (Catherine) Link. She was the sister of Curtis Barber (Louise). She is also survived by nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

A graduate of Buffalo State College and Columbia University, she received a nursing degree from the University of Rochester Strong Memorial Hospital. She was a lieutenant colonel in the Army Nurse Corps in World War II.

Kathleen was a member of University United Methodist Church in College Park for nearly 60 years. She was province president of Alpha Delta Gamma sorority and served as an adviser on the Panhellenic Council at the University of Maryland for many years.

After moving to Asbury Methodist Village, she remained active in health care and chaired several health related advisory committees.

Family and friends are invited to a celebration of life memorial service Saturday, Jan. 31, at The Guild Chapel, Asbury Methodist Village, 201 Russell Ave., Gaithersburg. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. with the service beginning at 10:30 a.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Wesley Foundation, University United Methodist Church, 3621 Campus Drive, College Park, MD 20740. Interment will be private in Fredonia, N.Y.
