Clifford Q. Houpt Jr., 81

MARCH 23, 1927-FEB. 9, 2009

LEMASTERS, Pa. - Clifford Q. "Pete" Houpt Jr., 81, of Lemar Road, died Monday, Feb. 9, 2009, at Chambersburg (Pa.) Hospital.


Born March 23, 1927, in Mercersburg, Pa., he was the son of the late Clifford Houpt Sr. and Grace Sharar Houpt.


He was employed by Letterkenny Army Depot for 25 years.


He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army.


He was a member of MMP&W Fire Co. of Mercersburg, Pa., MMP&W Fire Police of Mercersburg, Pennsylvania Fire Police Association, the National Rifle Association and Ducks Unlimited.


He is survived by his wife, Daisy A. Gelsinger Houpt, whom he married Nov. 26, 1950; one son, Jerry L. Houpt of Mercersburg; one sister, Mary Sipes of Lemasters; nieces; and nephews.


He was preceded in death by one sister, Mabel Statler; and one brother, John Houpt.


Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Lininger-Fries Funeral Home, Mercersburg. The Rev. William Baer will officiate. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Mercersburg.


Visitation will be Thursday from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
