Mr. Norman Haller

Mr. Norman "Monk" Haller, 84, of Knoxville, died Saturday, Feb. 14, 2009, at Frederick Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of the late Bertha Best Haller, who died in 1996.


Born June 27, 1924 in Frederick, he was the son of the late Amos Benjamin Laurence and Katherine Angevine Haller.

Mr. Haller served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of the Eagles # 1136, a lifetime member of the Moose Lodge and the American Legion Brunswick. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed dancing and bingo.

He was a member of the Pleasant View Church of the Brethren, Jefferson.
Surviving is a daughter, Rae Haller, of Frederick; son, Jay Haller and his wife, Lynn, also of Frederick; grandchildren, Ed Lobo and wife, Melissa, and Samantha and Christopher Haller; great-grandchildren, Gabrielle and Jay Lobo. Mr. Haller was preceded in death by a brother, William Haller and a sister, Ethel "Pat" Barger.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 17, at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1100 N. Maple Ave., Brunswick. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 18, at the funeral home. Reverend Tim May will officiate. Interment will follow in Brownsville Cemetery.
