Default WWII bugler laid to rest

"A horn player -- a bugler, of course -- belted out the slow, doleful notes of Taps, Sunday in honor of a man family members say was the Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy.

Friends and family members gathered at the South Florida National Cemetery west of Lake Worth to honor Sgt. Samuel Lewis Miller, World War II veteran, Nazi death camp survivor and bugler.

Miller, who died in September 2008 at the age of 88, recently was moved to the national cemetery.

His wife, Dorothy Miller, of Wellington, said her husband was in the U.S. National Guard when World War II broke out and he was moved to the Army. She said he was handed a bugle as one of his duties.

"He said, 'I never played an instrument," she said. "They said, 'You'll learn.'"

May he rest in peace
