" The last leader of the WWII Warsaw ghetto uprising has died at age 90, The Associated Press tells us.
Marek Edelman helped found the underground Jewish Combat Organization in 1942. He was one of three sub-commanders of the failed 1943 revolt to prevent the ghetto's remaining Jews from being sent to Nazi extermination camps. He managed to escape, aided by the Polish underground. Marek was a cardiologist and was active politically all his life.
