Does anyone know of any book(s) in print, in English, that cover this campaign area? There are a number of good books about Kursk, Stalingrad, Leningrad, etc., but I have found next to nothing that covers the campaign in southern Russia.
Thanks.

Dear M60A1: There are some excellent titles by: Gordon Williamson, and or Christopher Ailsby, covering the battles you mentioned. If I recall some titles, they are: Waffen SS "Instrument of Terror" Waffen SS "Role of Infamy" and "Blood Soaked Soil". Ailsby and Williamson are great authors. Also read "The Last Knight of Flanders" by: Allen W. Brandt.
Hope this helps.

Maybe try the memoirs of Manstein, I don't know the name or publisher, but he was in charge of the Crimean campaigns in 1941-42 and he also led troops in the Caucasus briefly in 1942.
I don't know about any books covering the Soviet side of these campaigns, it is so hard to come by them anyways, maybe try one of the Russian sites, they might give you some good titles.

Better late than never, hopefully . . .
Yet again, the recommended books are Carell, 'Hitler's War On Russia' and 'Scorched Earth', both of which cover these campaigns from the German viewpoint in considerable detail.
There's no doubt, if you are researching the Eastern Front, these two books are essential.
And yes, von Manstein devotes a chapter of his memoirs to the campaign '... to commemorate my Comrades of the Crimean Army'. His book was first published in Germany in 1955 as 'Verlorene Siege' and in English in 1958 as 'Lost Victories'. It was most recently reprinted by Greenhill Books in 1987.

Hallo!
I think that there are not quite a lot books on the subject, BUT all Stalingrad book must mention all the battles in the Crimea, Sebastopol, Khárkov and Rostov and the campaign in the Caucasus. If there is a book of Stalingrad which does not mention them, then the book sucks! I will recomend you to look in some of those books. Well, even if they focus mostly in Stalingrad, they are obligued to mention the other battles which influentiated much in Stalingrad.
