It's called Battlefield 1942...this game will be insane...ww2 on all fronts. Play as Russian infantry, A Jap sub commander, fly a stuka, do whatever your little heart desires...just get this game.

I just got the multiplayer demo to BF1942, and it is incredible. I have a 56 klunker for a modem, and most of the time the game behaves itself quite well. The singleplayer demo is great too. The AI actually uses strategy against me. Granted its still an AI, but its not those dumb scripted CS bots...these provide a great game for you.

The link posted previously is the place to get both. Its going to rule the ww2 gaming genre when it comes out. I have already ordered my copy, and it is released September 13th. Ordering now gets free 2-3 day shipping. Depending on its success (which will likely be huge), a new forum area on it might be in order...

Cool

Otherwise the battlefield 1942 looks great but are the germans wearing red cross ( =medical staff ) signs on their helmets etc?? Thatīs weird for I donīt think doctors and medics should be attacking anywhere guns blazing ( except maybe protecting the wounded if somebpdy tries to kill the for fun ). Do you guys see this happening too or are my eyes seeing things?

I just procured Battlefield 1942. I must say it is an incredible game. Of course, it isnt very realistic; its an action game. But it does deliver action, and how! I spent 4 hours in the Battle of Berlin, dodging from house to house, getting in surprise engagements with the Reds. I also spent considerable time in naval engagements with the Japanese off of Midway. In one game on wake island, I parachuted onto a Japanese carrier, stole a plane, parachuted next to a Japanese base, shot my way in, and stole a tank. I also found out you can run people down GTA3 style, especially in a jeep. I even dragged an enemy soldier halfway across the map. Suffice it to say, its fun. The only issues I have with it are sound card related. And even they are insignificant. I highly recommend this solid game to any action and/or ww2 gamer.
