Hello

I am (finally) getting a PS2 for Christmas. I have come to a very tough decision though: What game i should get right off the bat? Yeah, i know all about GTA and Vice City (my friend is an addict to both) but i am more interested in the FPS Games. With my interest in WWII, MOHF is an obvious choice. But it has its downsides (or so i have heard). It runs at 30 Frames Per Sec, rather then 60, etc etc. But it is supposed to be really realistic. Thent here is SOCOM: Navy Seals. It has the plus of also being a multiplayer game. Can anyone offer me their opinion, or is there another great FPS game? I already have Deus Ex (got it before it came out...something to do with my dads job/business or something).

Thanks in andvance,

I have played Soul Reaver 2:legacy of Kain but unless you have played the first ones on PS1 I think you should leave it or get the first one to see what itīs all about. Great story! The blood Omen thing is weird as it goes about UFO stuff later on.That is not recommended.

Metal gear solid 2 is great even if it doesnīt play as Snake as the "person" for long.I think the later version has Snake as the leading person all the wy so that should be better.

Red faction 1 and 2: Great guns! Great fun!

Soldier of Fortune on PS2: Not good...the guns are good but the story is simple and the quality of picture low...

Half Life is always good but I think you did it already, eh? Should have anyway!

Max Payne is good.If you didnīt play it I suggest you do!

Vice City is pretty impressive! If anything just for the huge environment it creates and the freedom of gameplay. I keep thinking that I'm getting bored of that game but then I'll fire it up and find something new.

Dead to Rights (I think that is the name...) looks pretty good. Originally for XBox only, but they ported it over to PS2 also.

Socom- I rented this one but never got time to actually play it! But- it does look somewhat overly-complex for a FPS. I wonder how smooth gameplay is- I'd say rent it first.

I tihnk i am going to go with Dead to Rights....it looks pretty awesome. I will perhaps get a few other games for XMas (from other people) or my Birthday - 3 months later. Either way, i should get some games that are very enjoyable. Gran Turismo and Jakc And Dexter come with the system, along with a memory card and 2nd controller. All for 279 i think. Pretty good deal if you ask me.

Mighty good deal Iīd say... I think I bought my version back in 2001 for some 450-500 Euros which is about the same as Dollar these days...But then again the price has come down and in Finland a PS2 with a memory card goes for 225 Euros=Dollars these days.
Quite a fight, as Nintendo seems to go on with its own special games ( Mario etc ) but what will happen between Xbox and Playstation...
