im not really into playin computer games but lately ive been playin the medal of honour game quite a bit and its flippin great . the only trouble is ive been having trouble with the sten gun and a lack of being able to hit very much . my questions is .......how close would these games be to actually firing this gun (the realism) because if it is how stens perform then i doubt if you would hit a barn if you were in one!!!!!

MOH series goes for realism. If you fire a Bazooka, for instance, it doesnt fly in a straight line and bounces off Armor at a distance. MP40's are also more inaccurate the longer you hold down the trigger (usually aim further down with them to hit the target in the chest/head). I think the Bren Gun is the same - and if its accuracy you need, i'd switch over to a Rifle. I like to use the SMG when in buildings/close quarters, or when assaulting a position. I use the Rifle for out-door scenarios and picking off troops from a distance (or knocking out MG Nests)

Depends if you didn't mind getting bolloked when you could not account for your weapon I suppose...

See I have heared that but never met a soldier who was willing to admit he had swapped his SA80 for an AK. Frankly I would stick with the SA80, if you look after it it should work well enough, steady supply of ammo, no need to account for ammo u dont fire and no need to worry about where your rifle is. Apart from anything, no platoon sgt would allow his men to swap their IW for an AK would he?

not sure what the platoon sgt would make of it but i guess it depends on the situation at a certain time .
id imagine when ur in the thick of it you would grab (depending on availability and what you thought was the best , to keep yourself alive) so id be grabbing the AK even if the platoon leader dissapproved

Real Stens weren't much better. The whole point of SMGs is to put a large amount of bullets in the air at one time. At least one should find a target and it keeps the enemy's head down.

I have this game on PS1 (not an up to date gadget fiend, me) and the accuracy of the Sten decreases on the harder missions. Though I have found that you can snipe with it if you just give the firing button a quick tap.

Well Hatch, the key is to just fire all machineguns in that game in short bursts. I've found that just continually firing just throws your fire across the screen.

I ahve been playing this game for ages, and you are right, the smgs and mgs are best fired in bursts, the recoil makes the gun go up and so you aren't very accurate. About 3 bullet bursts generally do the trick, with a sten I can be accurate in burst attacks. However, there is one other possibility, you can't aim to same your life!!!!
J/K....
The range of weapon in order, seems to go like this:
Pistol
Smg
Mg
Rifle
Sniper

RPGS and other "n00b" weapons, are generally explosives, they may not have good range but have impact!

Shotguns are probably even shorter range than pistols...

Most people tend to take thompson get into close combat, stay out the way of snipers, and pack a deadly punch. Range can be a difficult bit to master.
