Terror of the Skies is on a distinguished road
Default B-17 Flying Fortress "The Mighty Eigth"

I have this game and it's very good. It's single player, no online play unfortunately. But this game puts you in command of either a B-17, or a squadron of 12 B-17s. From there you must manage the bomber and it's crew. You can also change the names of the crew, what they look like, etc.

Not only do you command the B-17, but you can control any of the 10 positions on the bomber. I personally am a true terror when it comes to the tail gunner position. That's where I primarily stay throughout the mission. Then when on the bomb run I switch to the bombardier because the AI bombardier can't drop it in the pickle barrell if his life depended on it.

As squadron commander, you set the primary and secondary targets, you choose which bombers will go on that mission, and their ordinance.

If you aren't one for sitting in a bomber, you can take the role of the "Little Friends" and fly escort in either a P-51, P-47, or P-38.

Want to take out the Allied might? Fly as the German Luftwaffe and strafe the formations in Me-109s, FW-190s, and Me-262s!

There's a LOT more you can do. And it's very realistic. If you want to, you can opt to manually start up all foour engines in the historical procedures (Master switch, cowl flaps, ignition, energize, mesh, etc).

I could go on and on, but you could just check here instead...

If you want some in game screen shots, just ask.

P.S. I think, IMO, that the only draw back to this is that you can only fly the B-17G, and I like the F model a lot more. But, none the less, awesome game!!!

You are bringing back memories. I have that game too.

I loved the fact that you had to use real procedures in the cockpit to start the engines, operations, etc.

Excellent game...I need to load it up and give it another go.

I remember the first time I completed the 25 mission quota. I was jumping with joy cause I had finally made it without a single scratch!

And damn it if I hate those flak attacks MOST nerve racking part of the missions.

I wis it was multiplayer though. That would make it better. 10 people per server, all in 1 bomber fighting off the Luftwaffe.

On the box of this game I noticed that it said you are able to fly the Me-262, but I have never been able to figure out how you actually go about doing that. I've searched the game through and through, and have still found no way to fly that magnificent aircraft. Has anyone else flown it or know how to acquire it?

I've been gone TOO long!

In order to use the Me-262 you have to start out in 1945. Set your date to the latest possible date in 1945, which I believe is April, then the Me-262 will appear.
