Default Red Orchestra

Red Orchestra is perhaps one of the best WWII Games I have ever played. The graphics are great, the maps are fun, and everything about the game is realistic. Shooting from the hip is hard and inaccurate with most guns, and bullets drop over time, so long range shooting and sniping is more realistic. Grenades can only be thrown so far, so no more tossing nades over buildings. Character models follow rag-doll effects, and will get limps blown off by explosions. Tanks and vehicles are also very detailed, with realistic ballistics. Taking a Tiger on from the front will always fail, and gun sights are accurate to each particular tank. Machine guns have to be deployed for the most part to be fired and bayonets have to be attached to rifles in order to use them. Cover-Fire system is also very good. Crouch next to a window and you will duck below it. Press the button to aim down the sights and you will pop up enough to look through the window/over sandbags/overwall etc to start shooting. MGs can be deployed anywhere when prone, or in windows/walls. Accuracy depends on how tired you are from sprinting and what stance you are in. Truly one of the best WWII Games out there, especially for $15 - $20 price range. Google RED ORCHESTRA for links and DL. It is also the only game that takes place entirely on Eastern Front (Russians vs Germans/Finns) while a MOD is in the works to open up a Normandy Campaign.

Below are some screen shots from the game:

Sweet - make sure you have a few hours of time to kill - its a DL but well worth the wait. Think you might be able to order it on a CD though - not to sure. Oh, and to run the game you have to install STEAM. Then you open STEAM, click on MY GAMES, the RED ORCHESTRA.

Let me know once you've got it - can welcome you to the <|dPP|> Clan once you've got it.

Cheers. I think you can get it on a CD, I looked for it on Amazon. Though not so sure it's the right one, though. Ages 3+?

Here are some more pictures:

Hold the Line! Tanker with MG and a Russian Rifleman. In Stalingrad.

Germans who survived crossing the river scale a hill to Assault Bunker 3 from the Flank.

Close Combat on the same map, at the last objective held by the Russians:

Combat in the woods on another map:

Buried Tiger in a city street. AKA Turret/Bunker.

dPP FTW!

NaBz crying in the back of a Halftrack. All his friends have just been killed by the Russians. (Character Animation is of him crying)

These next images are all from the same map. This first Tank (forget what its called) sounds like AA and has a machine-gun like turret. Very hard to tell if you make a hit at any distance.

Ahh, a real Penguins tank!

This is what happens when a Tank goes BOOM and you're still inside. Luckily, dPP is smart enough not to be caught inside at such a time. Sadly, NaBz is not.

dPP uses binoculars to scout out the enemy positions for his tank.

The end results of dPP in action. A Stug and Halftrack are pictured here. The Halftrack was destroyed at long range while moving! Expert Marksmanship by dPP!

More to come next time i play! Hopefully with more members from the Forums!

I love this game, probably my favorite FPS of all time. The only problem is that even after buying a CD you still have to DL the bloody game from steam which is a right ball ache but it's well worth it.

Yeah? I directly DL it once i bought it so didnt have to wait for the CD to arrive. Lots of updates and custom maps to DL too, but like you said, its well worth it. Gonna miss playing it this week while i'm home in NJ

If this game is so great, why isn't the following bigger?

I'v heard a few people say it's a great game. But I don't see it getting "great" reviews or in stores everywhere like other games.

You only DL it from STEAM or order it on a CD from them. It wasn't developed by a game company. There was a contest a while ago using the UnrealTournament Engine I believe and the winner of the Contest was given X Amount of Money to develop their game. Red Orchestra's team won the contest and have since developed the game, which wasn't released to stores because it was low key and not published by a developer. Its got a pretty decent fan-base of hardcore gamers I think, but was never designed to be a mass-market released game. They're also developing a ETO version of the game with new units etc which should be pretty awesome.
