My COH war story.
This is my most recent game, so it is still fresh in my mind. The map was the 8 Player Montriges (or however you spell it) region, and I was playing as the British. My allies where a normal computer British, a Normal computer American and a hard computer American. We where vs 2 Normal Whermact computers and 1 hard Whermact, and 1 normal Panzer Elite computer.
__________________________________________________ ___________
I started off with the usual stuff-build a Rifle squad, then a Lieutenant, then another rifle squad and a Bren carrier. I moved my starting riflemen section to capture the nearby strategic point.
Having not played this map for a while, I looked around for a bit. An easily defended compound was directly in front of me, and to my left was a trio of munitions points, again easily defendable.
My computer allies and I began to capture all the points up to the railway line that ran through the middle of the map. Upon reaching this point, we ran into some Germans. So I pulled my squad back and put it in a building.
By this time, all my men had been produced, so I sent them to capture the munitions. It took some time, though my American allies helped by getting there before me (!). I built a mortar pit and a trench to protect this area, thinking about the impending attack here. I also parked my field support truck here, too.
By this time, we had really ran into trouble at the centre. German MG42s and Motorbikes had our infantry pinned down, so I got my Bren carrier, began the Vickers MG upgrade, plonked a section in, and set off.
By the time it got to the compound, the upgrade had finished. I used a rifle section as a diversion, though a flaw in my plan (the Bren carrier could not drive through the area I told it to) they suffered many losses (four out of five died). Though I found a different route, flanked the MG42s and killed most of the crew. I also forced the motorbike to retreat.
I retreated the depleted squad back to the HQ, and garrisoned two sections in what looked like a small train station. One of them was a sharpshooter section (gives you the ability to kill one man with one shot, though you can’t use it in buildings), and the other had rifle grenades. I also built a mortar pit. Several infantry squads attacked, but my men made short work of them.
END OF PART ONE

Re: My COH war story.
It is, It is. It is so very...BRILLIANT!
The only minor problem is MP can suck at times, especially with those prunes at Relic dealing with things...I'm waiting desperately for the new patch so I can play custom maps again.
Relic Entertainment is up there in my hate list along with Windows Vista.
Hopefully Vista will be sorted out in the next service pack, while Relic will always be the same.
Oh yeah, the eternal question-Fancy some MP sometime?

They have done well with the game, but I cant help but notice that the game follows the same game play as THQ's WarHammer 40k: Dawn of War.
But of course better.
Vista? well there is your problem
Yeah sure, just let me get used the game first and then download all the patchs whihc by the looks of it there are a few and they have to be done in order, which will take forever.
Do you have the opposing fronts expansions as well? I do but I haven't installed that one, is it any good, the same or better?

Re: My COH war story.
Opposing Fronts = 100000000000000000000000000000000000000 times better than any game in the world.
You know why it is alike Warhammer 40k?
THQ, impressed with the popularity of that game, made a WW2 era sequal to it in the form of CoH.
Yeah so, fancy a bit of MP?

Yeah sure, but we will have to set a time for the weekend mainly due to the time differences of our countries.
Oh on a technical note. I bought the Gold Edition of th egame containing both the original and the OF game. Ok now I install the original game and it is all fine and dandy. However when I install the OF game, it takes forever to load and when it does, and I load the game up, it comes up with a box saying "Could Not Verifi CD". ah Right, sure. Yes it is legally bought through a computer store.
I have gone through the THQ technical websites and they don't leave much in the way for an actuall explanation or a way to fix it. Many people have had the same problem and none that I have found have come up with a good solution.
Did you have this problem?
My computer fits the requirments fine, drivers are up to date, and I am unable to patch the game through there auto patch system.
I may have to adventure into downloading all the patches in order and installing them one by one.

Re: My COH war story.
I bought the original CoH when it first came out, then OF when that came out. I had no problems with installation or anything.
You probably would need to patch it manually, as when I unistalled CoH for the duration of two patches I had to download the first then second.
Oh yeah, if your looking for technical support then the fansites are better than THQ or Relic.

Re: My COH war story.
Joe I got the Opposing fronts game working tonight, thanks for the link to the forum it was a help.
Solution was that I had to uninstall the original completely, including from the registry (which was the problem), then recreate a folder in the registry (tricky stuff) then install the "OF" by itself upload all the updates (man that took forever) then I was good.
I see what you mean by 10000000000 times better
So yeah I am good for the multiplayer but we will have to work around the country times , ok now so what time is right now. , that way I can work out the time differences so I know when to be on for you.
Acutally what is the time in 24hr and date, just in case.

Re: My COH war story.
Good Idea.
We could do a sort of Tournament, 1v1 Victory point control games.

Haha thats 22 April 12:49pm here. If I worked that out right you are 9 hrs behind us then?
Saturday would be better, because Friday night I got a party and the morning is the Anzac parades, so saturday would be best.

Re: My COH war story.
Oh it is my friend, oh it is.
I keep meaning to finish it off, but I can't really be bothered. Maybe I should just host the Replay on the Internet somewhere?
