Tomcats COH online short AAR
I was playing Company Of heroes online just now and, lost 1 won 1, and then, this is the stupid part. Me and this other guy were teamed up against these other guys on the lyon level. Ok, now the game starteed out pretty even with both sides taking there own sides of the river, now we pushed over the river and starting attacking (one player had massive amounts of arty and the other went with infantry/tanks) now we lost out there and were actually pushed all the way back across the river and almost got completely destroyed in the process, I was at one stage down to one panzergren, no hq, which my panzergren was rebuilding and one barracks. Now somehow me and my mate (him being not better off then I was) managed to push the americans back across the river a again and a big battle insued and we slowly and I mean very slowly started taking back ground, in a forward and then back montion. Finally we managed to overcome one of them and destroyed all but a few of one his infanty squads, who he had hiding iin the other guys base.
Now we completely surrounded the last guy, me with my 95 fallshirmjaeger and tank buster units(expain later) and my team mate with a load of tanks, then the inital assualt came. We started to crush him and just before he lost, he kicked us out of the game, I couldn't help but laugh, what can you do. The annoying thing is that we fought so hard to get where we were, to tell the truth 4hrs long, yes I sat here playing against this guy for 4hrs just to be kicked at the end. We had him too.
I think I annoyed him in the end, becuase all through the game, my tactic was to drop fallshirmjaegers into unoccupied buildings in his territory and just shoot up vehicles and infantry squads just to pull them away from the bridges which in the end worked. At the beginning, seeing that this tactic was working I continued to use it for the last 3 hrs og the game on these guys, making them run backwards and forwards chasing my men. It got so bad for him I noticed that he had a least 4 infantry squads and 4 tanks patrolling his rear just watching for my move.
A hint when playing, Fallshirjaegers are the best. One squad of 4 men 2 with rifles, 1 with a panzershrek, and the other with an FG were able to beat of 3 squads of anmerican GI's from a crater. Its true.
Also they are very effective agaisnt tanks with the panzerfausts, pluse they have the ability to camofluge into the debris, I love them now, I will use that tactic all the time, even if it takes for ages.
Anyway I am just annoyed at how well we ended up doing considering we were certain we would lose, at the beginning I realised I had chosen the wrong german formation the mechanized infantry one instead od the wehrmacht one, which I consider to be my best side. Now it was probably a good I did chose wrong.

Re: Tomcats COH online short AAR
Absolutely, imageine a type of command and conqueor, or even better, Warhammer 40000, Dawn of War, it is exactly the same as COH manily becauase they are made by THQ. You capture stragic points to advance your rescourse and buld infantry squads, MG, Mortars and snipers all in there own squads, which can be uprgaded with new weapons. For example you can uprage your rangers to assualt rangers with thompson machine guns, so 2 have bazooka,s and th rest thompsons. You can call off map arty supports, and of course build various ttypes of armoured units, such as the panther, Sherman, StuG, armoured cars, bren carriers and even field guns such as the german 75mm. All this of course depends on what country you are playing, if you are american you cant buld german equipment, However you can capture MGs, mortars, dropped small arms, panzershrecks or even the field pieces assuming that they werent destroyed in the attack.
Defensives can be built suhc as mines, barbed wire, dragons teeth, bunkers trenchs, you can garrison buildings and turn them into barracks, or all the holes in the map actually protect your men from incoming fire.
Get this game.
I reconmend this game, because I am a sucker for realism, and other then the units 'health" bars it is vvery realistic.

Re: Tomcats COH online short AAR
Can anyone here play COH or COHOF on the full graphic settings? Including shadows and water reflections?

Re: Tomcats COH online short AAR
I can...both SP and MP. For some reason, the two people i played with last night couldn't. Their settings were too-high for MP play. They changed theres and lag issue went away.
Speaking of which, my friend who never played before joined me and Sgt.Pepper in a 3 v 3 AI...we were Allies. On Hill 411 or something. I must admit that I was in the middle and saved the Right Flank (where my friend was) not to mention i made the left flank fall when i landed by British Commando-Gliders. We grabbed control of the Hill right from the start (lots of bunkers etc). Lots of fun, prob play again tonight.

Re: Tomcats COH online short AAR
When I buy OF this May I probably won't be able to play it with shadows or water reflections, but I'll be fine in terms of physics and stuff in general.
Looks and sounds like an awesome game What are the maps and game modes?

Re: Tomcats COH online short AAR
Actually Tomcat, it's a PaK 38 50mm for the Whermact AT gun. The Americans get the 57mm and the British get the 17pdr which is in a fixed position. The PE don't get one, but the Marder III acts like a very powerful mobile one. With weak armour.

You are right I just realised that I wrote the wrong calibre down.
I can play it with full qraphics in SP but in MP I have to turn them down due to the connection.

You will be able to play it, but I don't know how you will go with the larger battles, or multiplayer, you will have to give it a go.

Re: Tomcats COH online short AAR
Depends on your system specs.
Single Player should generally be OK though.
