Re: F1 and new rules
We´ll see how it goes for Mclaren.....
Alonso will leave, quite sure about that, and once the team receives no money for the team position this year and also pays the fine we´ll see how long Hamilton will want to stay in Mclaren. Not anymore surprised Dennis looks so pale even if this year otherwise has been great.

It´s not over till it´s over...
Hamilton's driving to be investigated
itv.com/f1 - Hamilton's driving to be investigated
Lewis Hamilton is facing a stewards' investigation into his driving while under the safety car in the Japanese Grand Prix.
The officials are understood to be considering whether Hamilton could have contributed to the collision between Mark Webber and Sebastian Vettel that took the duo out of second and third places during the second caution period at Fuji.
"New evidence has been brought to the stewards attention and they are currently investigating the matter," an FIA spokesman told autosport.com.
Vettel said at the time that he had hit Webber while distracted by Hamilton slowing unexpectedly.
“I was exiting turn 13 and looking at Lewis, because all of a sudden he seemed to slow down really much and I thought he had a problem at that stage," Vettel told ITV Sport's Louise Goodman in Japan.
“And by the time I was looking back to the front I was already crashing into Mark’s rear end.”

Vettel, who was blamed for the accident was given a 10-place penalty for the future race in China.

Re: F1 and new rules
Results from China. Hamilton did not finish. 1. Räikkönen 2. Alonso 3. Massa
So Alonso still got a chance.

Re: F1 and new rules
Coulthard is now not the only driver in history to crash in the pit-lane.
How ironic with the tarmac run off areas Hammy finds one of the few gravel traps.
Vettel is a new star.

Re: F1 and new rules
It was not Hamilton's fault, why did the team keep him out there on worn out tyres? Sheer madness, what were they thinking pulling a stunt like that!
OK, for the fans it's a shootout between Hamilton and Alonso along with the outside chance of Räikkönen pulling one out of the bag.

Maybe part of their punishment for cheating was to make sure the Championship lasted until Brazil.
I'm sure Bernie had a word in Ron's ear.
"He's not allowed to win, yet."

Re: F1 and new rules
Must admit sometimes it feels like Bernie decides how it all ends...anyway, I had this strange feeling it won´t be over until the last race because Bernie would lose alot of money if people did not have any interest watching that race and now they have all the reason to watch it.
And it´s not the first time....

Re: F1 and new rules
F1 has suffered a bureaucratic year which has dented the sport and I hope next year F1 gets back to grass roots, I feel F1 is on a slippery slope to a bigger scandal sooner or latter.

Re: F1 and new rules
F1’s governing body has opened a new investigation into McLaren, amid claims that the Woking based team may have sabotaged Fernando Alonso’s car in China, reports on Tuesday said. At the conclusion of the espionage saga last month, FIA president Max Mosley warned that the Paris body would closely monitor McLaren for signs of retribution against the Spaniard’s involvement in providing evidence that ultimately cost the team $100 million and exclusion from the constructors’ world championship.

Sir Jackie Stewart has accused the FIA of having a "big brother attitude" in it's handling of the title race between Alonso and Hamilton.
F1's governing body has appointed a special scrutineer to ensure MCLaren give equal treatment to their drivers in the decisive race of Interlagos.
"It's a dangerous precedent," Sterwart told BBC Sport. "The FIA is paid to govern the sport not to manage the teams."
But president Max Mosley said the FIA is simply ensuring rules are respected.

I agree with Jackie Sterwart, this season we have seen this heavy handed attitude which is nothing more than big brother and this is not needed in F1. If this crass attitude continues then the fans will start to say great teams shame about the Big Brother BS from the FIA.

Re: F1 and new rules
I suppose is was too much to ask Lewis to do it in his first season.
I'm glad it wasn't Alonso, he was very unprofessional this year.
Good job Kimi, I honestly thought he would never do it. I thought he wa s a car breaker and not skillful enough to be World Champion.
Well Done.
Good to have more than one Champion on the grid again.

Re: F1 and new rules
What a farce by the race stewards not to punish Williams and BMW for fuel irregularities, rules are rules.
The FIA and Ferrari sleep in the same bed, both are bent.

Re: F1 and new rules
Just saw the news and Lewis Hamilton has confirmed he is quitting Britain for Switzerland, probably all that hounding from the gutter press.
Luca di Montezemolo has scotched talks Alonso will be seen in a Ferrari cockpit for 2008 campaign.

Mosley fears another 'Schumacher effect'
FIA president Max Mosley fears Formula 1 may be in for a repeat of the “Schumacher effect” if Lewis Hamilton matches his sensational debut year success in 2008 and beyond.
The 22-year-old’s unparalleled debut season and his year-long quest to become the sport’s first rookie world champion revived the non-core British television viewers’ interest in F1, with ITV’s ratings for the sport hitting a seven-year high.
Although he narrowly failed to land the drivers’ crown, the McLaren ace has already been tipped to become a multiple world champion and even challenge some of Michael Schumacher’s glittering records.
However Mosley feels that should Hamilton go on to repeat his form in the coming years next then there could be a danger that, as with Schumacher’s metronomic domination of F1 in the first half of the decade, it could have an adverse effect on the sport.

Someone in the media is wondering if Max has lost his marbles (going potty) in his old age. In my view we have to wait and see if Hamilton is not another flash in the pan, remember the hype when Jason Button join F1.

Re: F1 and new rules
Hamilton can be quick but can McLaren come up with the car that´s fast and reliable next season?
