Not sure Kai . While Juve are the most likely to be demoted if found guilty, the others may have points deducted – but from last season or the next season .
Demotions must be instant, but it makes more sense to me to have teams start next season with a minus number of points? However, the Italian press have said ; ”Juve may be stripped of their last two Serie A titles and could even be sent into Serie C. Individuals found guilty of any wrong doing may be penalised with fines or lengthy suspensions from the game.” So, if it will all relate to last season and AC have points docked, Inter may emerge last seasons’ champions
Even after the findings of the first enquiry come out by 9th July, there will be appeals if they’re negative.
Very sad news about Gianluca Pessotto.
The Juve and Italy player only shortly retired from playing and was given the managers’ job. Speculation is rife as to the reasons but NOTHING positive has emerged. Del Piero, Zambrotta and assistant manager Ciro Ferrara have flown to see him in hospital where doctors say he’s off the danger list .
On another positive note, following Ghanas’ performance in the World Cup, Saudi prince Al-Abdul Aziz Al-Saud has donated US$100,000 to them to help develop their game.

35 Year old Pessotto underwent a ‘threat to life’ operation last night, described as being ; ”on the limit”, which fortunately went well. His wife Reana advised his decision to retire from football and take the managers’ job at Juventus in May has led to greatly increased stress and depression. She denied any marital split but said they had rowed recently when he suddenly cancelled a planned three day holiday with the children as ”he had to work”.
In Germany, Alessandro Nesta said; “We have all been affected as a lot of us have played alongside him for club and country. It’s sad. Let’s hope that he can resolve the problems he has had.”
Meanwhile, Real Madrid Presidential candidates Lorenzo Sanz and Ramon Calderon, continue to talk bollocks and claim immanent or actual signings of half the top talent in Europe, and Arsenals’ manger . These include players who have 4 or 5 years left to run on their contracts, players who have recently renewed or extended their contracts, and players or clubs who have told them to f*** off, get a life or see a doctor .
"I'm gonna sign some chicks with big boots...yeah...yeah...cool."

The 35-year-old is in intensive care at Le Molinette hospital after falling from a window at the club's headquarters in Turin on Tuesday.
Pessotto sustained multiple fractures in the fall and has already undergone two operations in a bid to stop internal bleeding.
And medics have now expressed concern over the state of Pessotto's health.
"We cannot say if he will survive," said doctor Pierpaolo Donadio, head of the intensive care unit at Le Molinette Hospital.
"We will not reveal the prognosis for recovery and we really cannot say when we will be able to do so."

Pessotto continues on the danger list. At least he’s not ‘critical’ but not ‘safe’ either. A doctor described his ‘game’ as 1-0 to him, but added; ”It’s only half time and we don’t know how long the game will go on? We cannot perform the operation to stabilise his vertebrae now, because the patient has to be in excellent overall condition, especially with regards to his internal organs. The blood remains between his kidneys and back, which cannot be simply sucked out, as it’s more of a sponge than a puddle.”
He is being maintained in a pharmacological coma to help him through the series of operations and allow his body to recover from the trauma of the 15 metre fall with a terminal impact of around 60kph.

Pessotto – Molinette Hospital - 01 July
Doctors confirmed that Gianluca Pessotto opened his eyes today and recognised his family and friends, as fans marched through Turin in a show of support.
He has been kept under an induced coma to help him through this difficult time, but was awakened by doctors this afternoon to check on his condition.
“During a window in the sedation period, Pessotto was conscious and interacted with his environment, He opened his eyes and recognised the people around him, but we need at least another week before declaring him out of danger,” - Doctor Rapellino.

Pessotto – Molinette Hospital - 02 July
”Gianluca Pessotto’s condition continues to improve, as doctors confirm he is starting to come off the ventilator and interacting with people around him.
“He is still intubated, but last night we began to lower the level of the ventilator, so in part he is breathing unaided. Let’s say that he is dictating the tempo of the breaths and that the machine is helping him, but his body is responding well. Over the next few days we hope to take him off the ventilator completely.
He opened his eyes and squeezed a hand. Now he can follow simple orders, moves his eyes and shows signals he can understand what is being said. Our objective is to slowly bring him to a state where he won’t feel pain even with only a small dose of sedatives. He’ll remain sleepy, but beginning to breathe autonomously.” - Doctor Pierpaolo Donadio.

Hernan Crespo, the ‘just about’ Argentinean striker, currently with Chelsea but who has played all his better stuff in Italy, has re-expressed his desire to return to the San Siro in Milan, which he claims is immanent. Whether this will be for AC or Inter is not clear as the ‘phone call’ hasn’t come yet. Neither has his Italian passport which also appears to be just awaiting a rubber stamp . Would this mean FIFA allowing a National Team change – Crespo an Azzuri .
”England midfielder Frank Lampard has hit back at the critics who have slated his World Cup performances and told them to show him more respect.”
Oh Frank, really. 428 Shots at goal, only three actually on target and no goals – first show something to respect . You’re supposed to reside in an annuls of football history, not the anus .
And, FIFA have suspended Greek membership as they believe Greek football is controlled by the Greek government and not by their Football Association as FIFA require .

Thanks Kai. I hope followers of International football are interested in his progress and non-followers in the story of a popular young man in tragic circumstances. Police and officials appear quite clear that the incident involved no third party and is not connected with the current inquiry into past Juventus affairs.
Pessotto – Molinette Hospital - 05 July
Former Juventus Coach Fabio Capello, who quit Juventus on Tuesday and heads off to Real Madrid, visited Pessotto last night. “He was awake and I got very emotional, he recognised me and I just spoke to him for a while.”
Another visitor was former Juve colleague and 1994 World Cup player Antonio Conte who revealed the news of Italys’ semi-final.
“He recognised me and smiled, I told him about Italy’s win and he subsequently clenched his fist. He made me understand that he was very, very happy. I told him that I had finished my coaching badge course and invited him to keep an eye on me as a future Juventus coach…. The visit went well, we also joked a little.”

Stefano Palazzi, prosecutor in the Italian match-fixing trial – the Calciopoli - today announced the penalties the prosecution considers should be handed out, if the accused are found guilty .
Juventus, at the centre of the trial, should be demoted two divisions to Serie C1, plus start the new season with minus 6 points, and, be stripped of their last two Serie A titles.
Fiorentina and Lazio demoted one division to Serie B, and start the new season with minus 15 points.
AC Milan also demoted one division to Serie B, and start the new season with minus 3 points.
The initial 30 officials considered for ‘sporting fraud’, mostly referees - no players, which actually became only 26 indicted, has been reduced to 25 as one has been cleared of any wrong doing. For these individuals, Palazzi called for varying total bans within the sport for up to 5 years and multiple fines of 5’000 Euros for each separate violation.
There is still to be a verdict which is expected to be followed by appeals as everything indicates it will be 'guilty as chaged'. Defence for Juventus appears to now be adopting a damage limitation stance as they stated a demotion to Serie B would be more appropriate? Juventus shares have already dropped 50% and still falling. Should they be demoted to Serie C1 it is likely to reduce their income by about 80%. Apparently, indications are also that the ‘money men’ behind Juventus would not be prepared to get their wallets out again – for the moment .
IMHO, AC will not be demoted .

Personally I´d be very surprised if any team got demoted but then again, Capello just left so...??
I mean if you placed this in the Premier league you would send Chelsea, ManU, Arsenal and Liverpool to the first division...

Quite right, and, with one of them going down to the Second Division! They seem to be particularly after Juventus and this is the only club apparently expected to shed players? Perhaps the feeling is that only Juventus will get demoted, and then to Serie B, while the others will stay in ‘A’ and just have points docked?
Looking at the current transfer market:
# Inter Milan claim they are to sign Fabio Grosso from Palermo
nice
# Sampdoria have finally signed Christian Vieri on a one year contract
Vieri actually sent them ‘anonymous’ emails ‘for a fan’, saying how great it would be for Sampdoria to sign Vieri – then ended them with his signature!
# Sven-Goran Eriksson has been offered £3m to coach Jamaica
and that’s £3m too much

Pessotto – Molinette Hospital – 07 July
Disconcerting news as a setback occurs in Pessotto’s’ condition. Over the past few days his temperature has risen and he is suffering liver and right lung problems.
Doctor Pierpaolo Donadio stated: “This is the normal reaction of a patient with these types of serious injuries. With the fall from that height, it’s a miracle he was alive when he reached the hospital and didn’t die in the first 48 hours. However, we are consoled by the fact there is no sign of infection apart from the temperature. These are complications that can arise and we can’t tell if there will be others. All the vital organs are at risk in these conditions.”

Pessotto – Molinette Hospital – 09 July
Doctors have ruled out the option of allowing hospitalised Juventus team manager Gianluca Pessotto to watch tonight’s World Cup Final.
The former Italian international is making slow progress after his dramatic fall and there was the possibility that he could be given the chance to watch tonight’s showdown on television.
But Pessotto, whose condition worsened on Friday due to a fever, has not been declared in a fit enough state to view the Berlin clash between Italy and France.

The fever is probably due to the blood in the tissues breaking down, or maybe a true infection in the lungs due to the tube used for helping him breath for a while.
You´d think once you survive the first 24-48 hrs that you have lived through it but some later phases can cause a reaction called MOF=multi-organ failure where several organs ( kidneys, liver, lungs )just stop working one by one. I do hope Pessotto is not going to have this because only a minority survives the MOF.
This also happened in a way back in WW2 when people found from the ruins of their houses alive after bombings and with scratches suddenly felt worse after a day or two and died within a week or so.

Pessotto – Molinette Hospital – 11 July
Italy returned to the peninsula last night and a number of the Giro Azzurro wasted little time in visiting Pessotto this afternoon.
Alex Del Piero, Fabio Cannavaro, Gianluca Zambrotta, assistant manager Ciro Ferrara and trainer Claudio Gaudino all made the trip to the Molinette hospital with the World Cup trophy which they showed to the former Juventus defender.
Del Piero, Cannavaro, Zambrotta and Ferrara all entered the hospital via a side door to avoid the fans outside who expected a visit today.
It proved to be an emotional moment for Pessotto when he saw his former team-mates with the Cup.
Del Piero stated: “I am very happy, as he looked much better. He is strong and now has to continue this battle. I’m sure that he will win it. He was waiting for us and, even if this has been a long day, it was a very powerful and emotional moment to be there with him.”
Doctor Pierpaolo Donadio said: “There was a big smile mixed with a few tears, it was certainly a moment of great joy,”

Italian quartet set to learn fate
The verdicts of the match-fixing trial involving Juventus, AC Milan, Fiorentina and Lazio will be announced after 6pm on Friday.
The Italian Football Federation (FIGC) will make the announcement regarding the fate of the Serie A clubs, as well as the 25 people under investigation, and it will be read out by the Federal Appeals Commission president Cesare Ruperto in Rome's Parco dei Principi hotel.
Television broadcasters and radio stations will not be allowed to transmit the verdict live.

The Verdicts
Juventus demoted to Serie B, and start next season minus 30 points, and are banned from the Champions League, and are stripped of their last two Italian League titles.
Fiorentina and Lazio both demoted to Serie B, and both banned from the Champions League, and Fiorentina start next season minus 12 points and Lazio start minus 7 points.
AC Milan stay in Serie A but are also banned from the Champions League and start next season minus 15 points.
Appeals to follow
