Just read that in Germany the World Cup games worked like viagra. The birth-rate 9 months after the games truly goes high....

Re: football !!
Can McClaren do it for England...?
"McClaren thinks over team change
Steve McClaren insists he is bold enough to drop one of his big-name England stars - but says it is too early to decide if it is time to do so."
What does that mean???

Re: football !!
Totti can't sleep after United loss
The Eternal City giants lost 7-1 on Tuesday at Old Trafford to see their dreams of progressing to the semi-final stages of the European competition crushed.
"I haven't slept much," admitted Roma captain Francesco Totti.
"Tuesday was the worst night of my sporting career. I have never conceded seven goals in the Champions League.
"We simply froze and couldn't find a way to get back in the game once we conceded three goals early on."
-----------
And quite surprising...
Manchester United winger Cristiano Ronaldo admits he is "delighted" to have agreed terms on a new five-year contract at Old Trafford.
The deal will keep the in-form Portugal international at the club until at least June 2012.
Ronaldo added: "I am delighted. I spoke with Sir Alex and (chief executive) David Gill about my future and everyone knew that I wanted to stay.
"I am very happy at the club and I want to win trophies and hopefully we will do that this season."

Re: football !!
Diaby of Arsenal took a foot to the face in Arsenals 3 - 1 win over Man City. Gave him a pretty nasty gash over his eye. They bandaged it up real good but he had to come off a few minutes later because of it.
Sweet goal by Fabregas though!

Re: football !!
Arsenal are to offer Arsene Wenger a new contract in a bid to keep him at the club despite the shock departure of his closest ally David Dein.
The Gunners announced on Wednesday night that Dein, 63, had left due to "irreconcilable differences" - putting a big question mark over Wenger's future when his contract runs out in May 2008.
Arsenal chairman Peter Hill-Wood has made it clear however that he wants Wenger to stay.
He told Arsenal TV Online: "It's well known that Arsene and David have got on very well over the past 10 years and I am certain that Arsene will miss him.
"However I believe the relationship that Arsene has with the rest of the board is good. He is on contract with us until 2008 and we very much hope that he will extend his contract beyond that, but we haven't got into talking details on that yet."
--------------
BTW,
Did anybody else see Messi´s excellent goal against Getafe? Excellent....
"One of the big talking points to come out of the match was Barca's second goal, which was scored by Leo Messi in the 28th minute.
Picking the ball up inside his own half, Messi beat four opposing players as he raced towards the Getafe penalty area, before rounding visiting goalkeeper Luis Garcia and rolling the ball into the net.
The goal has been immediately likened to Diego Maradona's wonder strike against England in the 1986 World Cup, and Rijkaard called Messi's effort "a work of art". "

Re: football !!
Great match last night ManUtd vs Milan.
Milan going ahead with two Kaka goals 1-2, then Rooney making the two goals making it 3-2 during extra time.
Tonight hoping to see more great goals Chelsea vs Liverpool.

Re: football !!
Hero Reina's home is burgled
The home of Liverpool goalkeeper Jose Reina was burgled on Tuesday night while he played in the Champions League semi-final against Chelsea.
The burglary follows a trend of footballers' homes being targeted, often when they are playing matches.
The Merseyside home of Jerzy Dudek, Liverpool's goalkeeper from the 2005 Champions League final penalty shoot-out, was burgled in June 2006.
He was on holiday in Poland when thieves took his Porsche car, jewellery and football memorabilia, including his European Cup medal.
Daniel Agger, who scored for Liverpool on Tuesday night, had his Wirral home burgled in September last year.
Reds striker Peter Crouch's house in Alderley Edge was targeted in the same month while he was on England duty.
Everton winger Andy van der Meyde was burgled twice last year, including one raid in which his pedigree puppy was taken.
Wayne Rooney also lost memorabilia, including his BBC Young Sports Personality of the Year trophy, when his parents' Liverpool home was burgled in July 2006.

Re: football !!
Seems like the Champion´s league final will be a replay of the 2005 final, Milan vs Liverpool. After first half Milan leads 2-0 against ManUtd and so far the Milan midfield is dominating the game, and Ronaldo for ManUtd has been pretty disappointing compared to Kaka who has been better than expected ( that´s my view ).

Re: football !!
Ronaldo of Man U. is very overrated if you ask me. Sure, he can make a nice move or take a nice free kick, but he isn't consistant. Look at his free kicks today - if the goal was to hit some one in the wall, then he did it 100% of the time. Milan made Man U look like the training squad. Pretty poor showing for what is reputedly the best team in the Premiership at this point.
The final should be very interesting. Especially if Liverpool can keep up the way they played yesterday vs. Chelsea - either way, should be a lot of tension.

Re: football !!
Ronaldo did score some 17 goals during the Premireship season many of which were match winning goals. SOmehow though after he got chosen the best young player and also chosen by the players , I think, the best player of the season, after that he definitely has not made an impression at all.
During the second half ManUtd started running and for some 15 minutes Milan was in heavy trouble but failing to score they lost the momentum again. The last 20 minutes it seemed like ManUtd was not even trying to score (?).
Yes, the blocking game by Milan was excellent. Kaka played 300% of what I last saw him, and Dida took the balls well, although not much threat this time.
Congrats Milan! Got some memories to pay back from 2005 to Liverpool?

Re: football !!
Very nice display of collective tactic and placement by Milan indeed, I hope we'll enjoy a nice final game with an opposition of style against the high fighting spirit of Liverpool.

Re: football !!
Oh no- Berlusconi´s doing it again...
Berlusconi believes that this time his men will get the job done.
"We will be stars in Italy, in Europe and in the world," said Berlusconi.
"We will win the cup which we handed to Liverpool two years ago.
"Their (Liverpool) goalkeeper will not make us lose concentration again with his dances (during the shoot-out), we are training specifically for this."
-----------
Interesting Milan training sessions in the near future- goalkeepers dancing around during penalty practices....
