Le Tour de France
Anyone other then me watching this years Tour? Finally have Vs. Channel so can watch it live! Great finish yesterday (in England) with over 2 Million spectators on hand. Winner came from the back of the pack after a crash to steal it at the line!
And todays stage, well, the big name sprinters survived a major crash. Narrow road and only the first 25 of the 188 remaining riders made it through the crash. Pretty nasty looking spill. Small groups of riders almost a minute behind the finish started trickling in. Cancellera, the current leader, was holding his left arm in a way that looked like he had hurt his shoulder or collar bone. A DISCO rider looked to be in a lot of pain holding his ribs. More to be found out later.

Re: Le Tour de France
I'll be watching once I get a new TV as mine blew out on the 4th of the month. personally I think this is great, no-one favored amidst all the scuttlebutt about doping, which most likely more than 1/2 of the accused cyclists never were involved. well if they indeed were then they should be lookingfor another job like a weiner stand like Jan Ullrich

Re: Le Tour de France
I've been watching it as well on Channel 48--which I think is the Outdoor Life Network? or OLN. This station playes the legs of the race about 12 or so times a day so its difficult to miss seeing it. I started really getting into the race last year when Floyd Landis was racing. I first watched it when Lance Armstrong won the year before.

Re: Le Tour de France
Surprisingly, only one person dropped out of the tour after that crash! Everyone else was able to continue. Great ride and finish today. 2 Riders broke away within the first 5K and were joined some 200K later by two other riders. They were all caught within sight of the finish line! And Cancellera surprised everyone by jumping on the oppurtunity and won the stage before the Sprinters could figure out what was happening!

Re: Le Tour de France
well I hope Canc does the job early on, it shows he is using some tact right till the line. Boonen just might be watching closely as he has something to prove this year. Frankly I just don't know enough of whom is competing as the guys that I had some data on are all goofs wrapped up in their own personal doping cases including that farce Floyd. I hope he is innocent but there are too many particulars from bonking totally out to blowing the field next day that just does not make sense. But that is last years old news.............on with Le Tour !

I don't really follow the tour, but I know my father is. He's a big fan of the sport, I remember him telling me stories about watching the great Fausto Coppi when he was kid.
Erich, should you be posting:

Re: Le Tour de France
Well these first few flat stages are all about the Sprinters: McEwen,O'Grady, Boonen, Thor Hushovd, and some other guy (cant remember his name). Cancellera is the World Time Trial Champion and is expected to fizzle out in the Mountains with the rest of the Sprinters. Right now its just about wearing the Yellow for him and fending off the Sprinters from taking it from him (If Boonen had won, Boonen would have the yellow). Boonen is the Green Jersey leader by only a few points too. Miller (a Brit) just lost the Polka (Mtn. Jersey) since one of the riders in the lead group won the Mtn. pts today.

Re: Le Tour de France
Another good stage today. This time it was a true sprinters finish. No one took control of peleton and Thor Hushovd got his first win! Almost got beaten at the line by that guy in red whose name i forget, but the other sprinters gotbeat! Boonen no where to be seen...their teams didnt do a great job.
Also another crash in rear of peleton in very beginning of stage. Very few riders but one broke his collar bone so he is out. Mtn stages coming up early this time! Stage 8 on Sunday (i think) is supposed to be a good one!
