F1 season 2008
Well, it begins soon, and it definitely is interesting to see how the new team changes work.
I guess Ferrari might have the best chance to rule the season but I hope Mclaren can fight back. Also Alonso probably will win a couple of races, I think.
The biggest change to cause problems might be: Gear changing will only be permitted by the use of a manually operated mechanical linkage to the gearbox.
Well, good luck to all drivers and looking for great races!

Who? What? Where?
I think I need to visit the F1 site and do some reading.
Hope we get a good season without the backstabbing.

Gear changing !?
Revolutionary...I wonder what the next innovation will be - overtaking without waiting for your pit-crew to do all the hard work ?

I absolutely agree with this comment.
Pit-stops, other than for punctures or bodywork replacement should be stopped, fuel stops whats that all about, the race only lasts an hour and a half.
The emphasis is then on the driver, do I gop like a bat out of heel at the start and risk ruining my tyres, or do i play the waiting game.
Also some car designs perform better on full tanks (relatively) and vice versa and this add unpredictability.

Re: F1 season 2008
People seem to forget that re-fuelling stops were unheard of ( in fact, any kind of pit-stop in F1 ; pit-stops were for Sports Cars...) until the advent of turbocharged engines which turned miles-per-gallon into gallons-per-mile..... There was a time when, if you saw a F1 car peeling off into the pit-lane, you knew he was in trouble.

The latest news in F1:
Kimi Raikkonen blanked the media in Melbourne when quizzed about his new 'Iceman' tattoo.
He was asked by the newspaper The Australian if he could talk about his tattoos.
"No," Kimi answered.

Re: F1 season 2008
I love Kimi Raikkonen he is such an awesome driver but he gives you the impression (looks can be deceptive) he does it as a hobby. He reminds me of James Hunt, although probably in his case, it was.
I really thought mid-season 2007 that him and Ferrari would part company because of that, however he won the world championship.
Even so come on Lewis Hamilton 2008, Kimi second and Alonso null points.

Re: F1 season 2008
Congrats Hamilton for winning the first race. Also excellent to see a new face on the podium: Nico Rosberg. Nico was really happy to be up there you almost thought he had won compared to the others....

Re: F1 season 2008
That was one of the best races for many years.
What was best about it was the drivers were in control not a computer.
Kimi overcooked it a few times.
Heiki was really unlucky with the safety car ruining his pit-stop options.
There were some excellent battles on the track.
Heiki taking Alonso then Alonso taking him back again.
Great stuff.
Shame Kubica faded as the race went on.
Nico is really improving, Lewis seemed to be pleased for him.
More of the same please.
Actually going to Silverstone this year, first time ever.
Can't wait now.
Well I can ......battlefield tour to Italy first.

Its a great experience to be there, the power of those cars is mind blowing.
The first time I went was 1973 and saw Ronnie Peterson take the old Woodcote Corner sideways at 140 MPH in practice , they put a chicane in after that.

Re: F1 season 2008
Race one and back to school they go.
Murry Walker thinks it could be Lewis Hamilton's year well we shall see, good start but a long way to go. Looking forward to Singapore's night race which should be very interesting.

The amazing thing is not the Murray's prediction is nobody can discredit it as nonsense.
Lewis is only in his second season, just goes to show what an awesome talent he is.

Me too ! - but for the old Daily Express International Trophy....Peterson in the JPS-Lotus 72, foot absolutely to the floor through Woodcote. No run-off areas, no catch-fencing, no debris fencing - you were certainly 'there'.....

Re: F1 season 2008
Next year we get the GP back on BBC so no annoying advert breaks and James Allen saying..."while you were away..."
As for Sundays race. Not as fun as Oz but good to see Kimi get one back.
I'm waiting to see Kubica & Heikki on the top step in other races.

Re: F1 season 2008
Glad to see for McLaren their season has started with great finishing, and happy to see Heikki and Lewis are getting along fine. This weekened the penalty cost them alot, and the previous race Heikki was going for the 2nd position before the accident. I guess Briatore will soon be sorry for letting Heikki go. Mclaren might have the best two drivers for the season.

BBC SPORT | Motorsport | Formula One | Formula One to return to BBC TV
2009-2013 on the BBC, lets hope they win the bid again or should we say place the bid. ITV has done a good job but those ad breaks are a real pain in the butt. As for race two what a dull race.
