Re: EC soccer 2008
Damn... I was rooting for the Czechs. I think last championship should've been theirs not Greece.
The Swiss managed to defeat Portuguese Reserves 2-0 go Swizerland!
Being bad I know. But the POrtuguese team deserved it. We slacked in the second half and that showed us right!
Cheers...

Re: EC soccer 2008
Bad year for Cech! No 2 in the premier, No 2 in the Champion´s league and now fumbled the ball in a non-dangerous situation for Nihat to simply put it in.Just shows we are all human even if Cech never made such a mistake since he was 4, I guess.
Now, if Austria would beat the German team then I´d say this is a tournament of miracles. And on tomorrow big match between Italy and France.... "there will be blood"...

Re: EC soccer 2008
There will be blood is a bit of an understatement. They could be at it for 3 weeks before the Germans win!

France
Germany
Holland looks extremely strong!!

Re: EC soccer 2008
That would be my favorite too especially if the Dutch win.
Italy France coming up now. The French still haven't digested the ass kicking by the Dutch. I hope they kick Italy out, although I'm not too optimistic.

Re: EC soccer 2008
That game is tomorrow O.o
Austria 0 - Germany 1 right now. Ballack w/ a free-kick goal. Nicely taken. Not sure why GK came out so far. Austrians might pull one back though. Just lacking that finishing touch right now.

Re: EC soccer 2008
A fine competition so far. However the teams who impress at the start never seem to win it in the end.
As for the winner, I think it was Gary Lineker who described football best:
"a game where 2 men chase a ball for 90 minutes, and then the Germans win...."
Spain and Holland together with Croatia are the teams that I have found most interesting so far.

Re: EC soccer 2008
A Romania Germany 0-0 would be a joke. This would eliminate both Italy and France (even the winner).
If Germany wins vs. Romania, then either France or Italy stays (the winner of tonight)

You mean Holland skip. Germany is in another group.

Re: EC soccer 2008
Italy won 2-0. Good bye France. They deserve to go. I mean how on earth can one possibly support a team who managed to get a red card after a few minutes and their best player evacuated wounded... I'm disgusted. They get the world cup in 1998, the Europa cup in 2000: then they think they are the Rollingstones and party instead of training... So they whereas they were favorites in Corea they got kicked out in the first pool , they still didn't learn their lesson and did it again in Switserland, so to hell with them. I hope it will teach them modesty, but it was probably the ref, global warming or the food, or God knows what....

Re: EC soccer 2008
Italy will face Spain next without Pirlo and Gattuso who both got their second yellow cards. Well, it just might make them stronger, who knows. Italy just gets better when the tournament advances, usually.
Tonight it will be interesting if we get to see the Russian superstar Andrei Arshavin, and whether he can make any miracles. The Swedes usually have luck on their side. And I know what I am talking about....

Re: EC soccer 2008
I think Spain will want to beat Greece (and probably should) to ensure they finish top of the group. A draw would work too, to ensure they play Italy in the next round. Better chance to beat Italy then to beat the Netherlands I think.
I am still not impressed by Italy. They should have beaten a French team that was without a starting defender (sent off), a man down, and missing perhaps their best player (Ribery) due to injury. You should be able to beat a team like that pretty easily, and not only score one goal in 75 mins of a man advantage (not counting the PK).

Kai Petri!
You wrote: "The Swedes usually have luck on their side. And I know what I am talking about...."
The reason for this cannot be another than that you are married to a swedish woman??
:-)
About fotball - If Zlatan will play tonight, we will have a good chance to qualify against Holland in the quarter-final, but after that I fear that the game is over for us.

Re: EC soccer 2008
Russia has made it to the quarter finals and will be playing the Dutch! Last time they met was 20 years ago.
Im afraid the result will be the same though.
