No crystal ball, I just cheat. The sad truth is that when I am not teaching young soldiers and officers how to destroy our nation's enemies, I am a bit er... obsessed with football. Have played and trained for quite a few years...

Re: EC soccer 2008
I think van Bastenīs words describe the Dutch playing best:
"We didn't play football as we did in the first three matches. I don't know why."
Great game by Russia and towards the end the Dutch looked pretty tired. Problems with stamina training?
Italy going through tonight then?

The Itallian superweapon... Luca Toni is growing a moustache to help getting over the goal draught. As a beardo myself I'll have to give him full marks for the effort, and I guess he'll be on target.

Re: EC soccer 2008
lol. Well, if this game goes like the others, the Runners Up will beat the Group Winner. I still put my money on Spain though. Spain vs Germany for the final, anyone?

Re: EC soccer 2008
Na. Italy is going to win... I'm afraid Spain is like Netherlands and POrtugal too. Always the favorites with the best teams. They never win...
Cheers...

Re: EC soccer 2008
Fabregas GOAL FTW! Italy played 10 men behind the ball all game, hoping for a corner kick or free kick to score. Spain dominated - and i mean dominated - big time and came close a few times. 0 - 0 goes into a shoot out and Spain wins on Fabregas's GOAL! Eat that, Buffon! Now you pretty italian boys can go home and cry to your mommas!
Germany will reach the final - easy pickings against Turkey.
Spain vs. Russia should be pretty interesting. Tipping my hat in favor of Spain again, so Spain vs. Germany Final. Based on today, against a physically bigger side, I'll favor Spain in that match up too. SPAIN FTW!

Re: EC soccer 2008
A rather tragic nghtfor football. After promising signs Italy fell through and crashed out on penalties. A day for crushing stats for the Spaniards. The first win against Italy in 88 years in a chapionship game.
The next land mark was the 22nd of June penalty ghost. Having lost on the 22nd of June on penalties in three tournaments they finally won one.
But to be brutally honest none of the sides impressed anyonone with the low pace, little enthusiasm display.
Spain is going to have to improve a lot if they want to defeat Guus's Red Army.
Russia against Germany in the final?

Re: EC soccer 2008
Its hard to have pace and attack when the other team has everyone playing defense. No where to take the ball, no where to pass but E to W, no N to S play. Italians were always content to bring it to PKs. Spain was the only team that tried to win it in regular time.
