US football is easy. Get the ball over the other teams goal line or kick it between two vertical poles, 10 feet off of the ground. To this end, you get four plays to get 10 yards at a time. Get those 10 yards, you get 4 more plays as you move toward the opponents goal. In the process, abuse the other team phyisically as much as possible. It's pretty simple.

The upset bug can bite any team it wants to, except for the Crimson Tide.

Kentucky poses an interesting matchup for the Tide this weekend but I think Alabama will handle them without too much worry.

Re: College Football 2008
Penn State is doing fine but it looks like #16 Kansas may be upset by Iowa State. Half way through the third quarter and Iowa State is up 13.

Re: College Football 2008
Kansas was able to come back and get the win. Penn State, for the first time this season scored less than 35. I knew that Purdue had a decent pass offense but I was surprised they were able to hold well against the PSU offense. Oklahoma won easy, and Bama is up 14-0 at half. Ohio St. and Wisconsin is a game I want to watch for tonight. It will be interesting to watch since Penn St. still has both on their schedule. both are away games.

I want to OSU to lose every game that they play so I shall be cheering for the Badgers this evening (during those few moments when there are commercials on during the baseball games). I love October!

Re: College Football 2008
Whew, glad that is over. Kaintuckie gave Bama all they could handle, plus the Tide played one of their worst games this season, with almost as many penalties this game as the previous games combined.
On a lighter, upbeat note, the Cow College lost to the Comode Doors. Dark days are down on the Plains.
Muhahahahahahaha

Re: College Football 2008
Yes Jeff, I was surprised at that. Auburn went up early but Vandy kicked and screemed and fought their way back on top. Wisconsin-Ohio St. is looking good. all tied up after three quarters.
I didn't catch the Bama game but didn't Kentucky score late? I didn't think the game was as close as the score indicates. Could be wrong.

Re: College Football 2008
Yes, they caught the Bama secondary with their pants down late in the game. The Wildcats had like 20-30 yards rushing.

Re: College Football 2008
Kentucky fell out and the Cow College stayed in with two losses among 4 lackluster wins? A travesty.
I was expecting The Crimson Tide to drop to 3 after our less than stellar showing.
What's that strange team in at 13?

Re: College Football 2008
Frighteningly, I actually caught the hightlights of most of the games this weekend.... years since I've been in on US college game stats prior to the end of the season. Hmm I believe they said it 1912 since Vanderbilt had this good a season, Jeff.
Must go do girlie stuff - must go do girlie stuff (dang other than shopping I'm having trouble thinking of a choice!)

Don't worry Jeff, sooner or later someone on that team will try to dunk it from midcourt
I too am suprised at how well they have been doing. Then again, someone unheard of needs to stay playing pretty well. If we don't have a BCS buster this year we will never get a playoff system.
Keep at it Brigham Young and Vanderbilt

Re: College Football 2008
I think we will see Alabama at number 1 come the next poll. I am picking Texas over Oklahoma this weekend. The teams are pretty well matched but Texas gets the win because of the home field advantage. I expect this to vault Texas to number 2 with Alabama the unanimous choice for number 1.
And Florida will be beat LSU . . . .

Re: College Football 2008
I don't see the Crimson Tide at #1 if Texas puts a hurt on Oklahoma. It'll be Texas if they win. My money's (if I were a betting man) on the Bayou Bengals. The Swamp Lizards have some weeknesses, namely that they run only 5 plays - Tebow up the middle, Tebow to the right, Tebow to the left and short pass to the flats, left and right.
My Avatar. The Bama Twins. Two sisters that didn't go to the Capstone were offered tickets several years back and they accepted. When they got to Tuscaloosa, the each bought a houndstooth hat a la Bear Bryant on a lark. Their seats were near a TV camera and it found them several times during the televised game. They have since come to most home games and the TV camera always finds them. From what I've read about them, they are good young ladies, not floozies.
