"Gullikson contributed several accounts of his World War II experiences to a 2001 book, “War Stories, from Utah Beach to Pleiku,” including an article with a title that reflects his philosophy to this day: “No One Wants to be the Last Man to Die.” “I’ll never die,” he said. “I’m too mean to die. I enjoy life and I’ll live forever.”
