Trying to track my Grandfather's steps in Italy. He arrived in Europe on Feb 10, 1944 and was part of Co K of the 15th Infantry. He was injured on May 31, 1944. From what I have read, the 15th was fighting along the Artena-Valmontone Road at that time. However, my Grandmother specifically remembers going to Montecasino several decades later to help my Grandfather deal with what I'm guessing we would now call PTSD. Is it possible he would have been assigned to another unit? Or is there a way to pinpoint his location? He earned several medals during his time in the Naples-Foggia and Rome-Arno campaigns and I would like to see the areas he fought in while I am visiting Italy later this month. Thank you in advance for any information you can offer.

This is a duplicate of a post you made some time ago here. http://www.ww2f.com/threads/monte-casino.56125/page-2#post-824087

I have just posted some maps of the area on the other thread. I also had a look at the battle between Artena and Valomontone for a battlefield a study by a unit of the British Army which supported this attack, for which I was the battlefield historian in 2016. Somewhere I have a detailed map pof the area which I post on the "Casino" thread.

Thank you! I wish I knew if he was with the 15th for the entire time or not. All I have are his enlistment and discharge papers but nothing in between. I will keep looking!
