1928 Ordnance Company (Ammunition)

I am looking for info on the 1928th Ordnance Company (Ammunition), USAAF, in which my father (Forest E. Long) served. He would really never talk about the war, except for generalities:
He was in England, France, Belgium, Germany
He wasn't in the Battle of the Bulge, but was "Not too far away."
He was a Sgt, a clerk who went around closing out other units after the war.

So far, I have only found one link (War in Bures) that has this unit located in Bures, England, but haven't been able to confirm that this is his unit, as there are three of these units noted on this site.

If anybody can give me any details on this company, or where I can find details such as locations and dates, I would appreciate it.
