American Sunisa Lee took Olympic gymnastics all-around gold as defending champion Simone Biles watched from the stands after withdrawing to prioritise her mental health.

The 18-year-old Olympic debutant, who helped the USA win team silver on Tuesday,

    --------------

Too much pressure. I recalll some top athletes commit suicide or stop their career due to depression. I guess she decided to call it a day.

I watched the last 30 minutes or so of the USA versus Australia women's soccer the other night. WTH was that ?? I only kept watching to see if Someone would do something other than play kick the ball !
I know football ( not the American style) is huge around the World but that was enough for me. Back to boring slow paced Golf !

I think they had an "arrangement". They knew they were both going through, so they didn't try to win.

Or - didn't want to lose. USA appeared worried that was a good possibility.
95 minutes would have been a very long time in the bleachers.

    Don´t forget Megan Rapinoe

Before you say the goalies are awful watch from youtube Ronaldo or Ronaldinho goals. They are just the same. Like NHL a goal maker sees the small "hole" to put the buck in, Teemu Selänne made some 70+ goals during his rookie season in Winnipeg Jets. Bad goalies? No, great scorer.

We call it that in Europe "parking the bus in front of the goal". 10 men defending and one up in case your side got the ball.

That’s called flooding in AFL and is now illegal.
Did you see the Aussie women beat Britain in the soccer? How funny is that?

I watch anything about the Olympics but I call that football. Things happen. I am neutral about the result, we have lost the chance to play any major tournaments by a goal or two all this time. I wished England would win the WC in men back then but it was not to be. Can only be sorry about the result.

......good job Australia and Holland!!! they fought the US to a tie ...and remember, the US population is over 10 times that of either country ...same with these countries that beat the US men's team, all the time....their populations are much smaller than the US

Australia so far are sitting in fourth! Ahead of Russia...hehe...

14 - 4 - 15 - 33 Winning events we rarely win and losing events we usually dominate...weird but enjoyable.

In woman football Canada won the US 1-0 with a penalty. Incredible. But that is football. In men's football what has happened to Germany for the last four years?

For Finland we won ski jumping, javelin throw, 5 000 and 10 000 running ( Lasse Viren etc ) for years. Now it's in ruins. Just gotta live with it.
