Well, some things, anyway. http://www.vox.com/2014/11/13/7148855/40-maps-that-explain-world-war-ii (Move okay.)
Oh man, there are some pretty good maps in there. Do u know if any of them are in the public domain? I would quite like to possibly add a couple of those to my WWII maps app (https://appsto.re/us/x4Mk7.i)
Rats Rats Rats. No Market Garden. Now trying https://appsto.re/us/x4Mk7.i An udder Rats. WWII Maps Ratsilano... 1. Mac OS 10.9.5 View in Apps = Double clicking on it, nothing worked. Open Library: An iTunes library file could not be found in the folder "Mobile Applications". Please choose a different folder" PS ITunes sure put it in a weird place. Took me a quarter of an hour to find it. ITunes ==> ITunes Media ==> ITunes Mobile Applications Folder. Sheesh.
Downloads folder. I am a novice at ITunes. Stumped. Sighed FriedEd. <===<-: (A Smiley that is about to Tie One On!) .... for sure. So so want to see a good map of Market Garden. Everything so far is too light weight. Example: http://www.bbc.co.uk/history/interactive/animations/wwtwo_map_arnhem/index_embed.shtml
Haha, yeah I don't know, Itunes/apple is very annoying in my opinion. Always problems and the worst support. As to your point about market garden, you hit the nail on the head. Maps of that are nearly impossible to find. I have to admit that the ones in my app aren't the greatest either haha. They are alright, just wish I could have found one with even more specific operations in it.
Thanks for the link, image copyright law is the most confusing morass on the planet. It seems to me that I will have to contact the person who posted the 42 maps via email to inquire as to the image rights. What's outrageous is that if someone finds you are using one of their images without their consent (presumably because you were unaware to their copyright claim), they can just immediately slap you with a lawsuit of around $10,000 in copyright infrigment penalties. There are slews of image copyright trolls out there too, just waiting to get you. So you gotta be really careful, even with free stuff like blogs posts they can still sue you. There are many horror stories on the internet about this kind of stuff, so word of advice is to always check the copyright on images for stuff your posting on the internet.
Map 14 is a bit misleading when labelling the area North from Leningrad (the Karelian Isthmus) as "occupied by Finnish Forces", when in reality that was Finnish area only returned to Finland. Similarily the text says that "Finns took territory north of Leningrad" which, while true, misses the point that the territory taken was Finnish in the first place.
Duh. Just found out I can't run WWII Maps on my Mac. (iTunes) It runs only on the tiny screens on Iphones and Ipads. (I have an Android phone I must have for aviation software.) The developer has to do a code version to run on the Mac. PC too I would guess. Rats.
Ahh sucks man, the app is only designed for iphone usage (and can be used on an ipad), but it isn't meant for running on a computer. I wasn't even aware that that was possible to run apps on a computer. You can see the maps on the computer here: European theater here: http://www.westpoint...an Theater.aspx and the pacific theater here: http://www.westpoint...ic Theater.aspx
Hope to meet ya someday. Ya owes me a beer. K? Yeah but no Market Garden. In my dreams I would go back to Uni and do my PHD on Market Garden. Info out there is totally inadequate. No University Lectures. Nada. Operations Planners always ask. "What if we lose? What advantages will arise out of this battle?' Nobody talks about this or the before, during or after Axis troop movements associated with Market Garden. Would like to learn all this. WorldWar2Historian - Gotta cracker jack good Market Garden Battle Map in there? Send me an image or pdf. K?
Haha okay, sounds fair. Yeah there really should be more info on Market Garden out there, tough to say why its so generally lacking.
It is amazing though, and I agree with you Fred. Market Garden is a popular Operation, and it seems no one has a really good grasp on the overarching details. I would like a well researched account from the German point of view. It leaves much to the imagination
