    Greetings again!
I was wondering if anyone had a really detailed TO&E for these two airborne divisions. I'm curious to see if there were any substantial differences in either organization or equipment. Thank you again!

The 401st Glider Infantry was not formally disbanded until 1945, but it had been functionally split up prior to Overlord. Glider regiments had originally had only two battalions, but it was decided to convert them to the standard three. This was done by attaching the 1st Battalion of the 401st to the 327th in 101st Airborne Division and the 2nd to the 325th in the 82nd. For morale reasons they retained their original designations, so the three battalions of the 327th were the 1/327, 2/327, and 1/401. Also at the time the commander of the 401st, Colonel Joseph Harper, became CO of the 327th, in which capacity he delivered McAuliffe's "Nuts!" reply to the Germans at Bastogne. In 1945 the 401st was officially disbanded and its battalions became the 3rd of the regiments they were serving with.

The AAA battalions were mixed anti-air and anti-tank units. Batteries A, B, and C had eight antitank guns, 57mm in 1944-45. D, E, and F had twelve .50-caliber machine guns, on single AA mounts, further subdivided into three platoons of four guns each. According to A Bridge Too Far the complete battalion took 81 Waco gliders. The AT batteries used 17 each, eight for guns and nine for jeeps including one for the CO/battery HQ, not sure how the rest broke down.

You need to pick a time period or operation. Note above, while the 401st GIR was officially disbanded in March 1945 it actually ceased to be a unit before Normandie. Many more differences will be found in the artillery available to each division.
