My father David Driscoll was with the 82nd West African Division in Burma at the end of the War. He was in the Royal Signals, and took a unit from Sierra Leone to fight the Japanese. Has anybody any good ideas on how I can find out where he was, and what he was doing during his service there? I don't know where one would find the records for the 82nd WAD.

Do you have his service record? You can apply for this from the UK Veterans Agency. It costs £30 and takes a couples of months.

The records of the 82nd West African Division are held in the National Archives in Kew. Here is a link to the war diaries of each headquarters and unit within the 82nd Division. This points as the G branch of Divisional HQ but you can browse when you know what unit her served with. http://discovery.nationalarchives.gov.uk/browse/r/h/C950983
