Good Day everyone, I'm in search of some information in regards to my Grandfathers military history. He has recently passed away and while cleaning through his papers, my mother happened to find his discharge papers from his time at Camp Roberts in California. His discharge papers states he was part of the 92nd Infantry Training Battalion, attached to Headquarters DEML SCU; Co B.. I can't seem to find any information on the acronym for DEML SCU, or really anything about the 92nd INF Training BN. Any insight is greatly appreciated!
Sarah, Have you contacted the museum there at the camp? I wondering if had something to do with demolitions training.
One thing to keep in mind is that the unit on the discharge is often just the unit from which a soldier was discharged, and not necessarily the unit with which he spent most of his time during the War. If you could post a copy of his discharge, we might be able to tell you more.
The War Department abbreviation DEML was Detached Enlisted Men's List. SCU is probably Separation Center Unit.
