Howdy fellow Rogues, Found something interesting. Going through some of my Father-in-Law's stuff and ran into some Allied Occupation Currency. All are dated 1944 even though the countries were not occupied until 45'. Most of the currency is pre-war German dated 1923 but the occupied forces currency is from France, Belgium, Czechoslovakia and even one from the USSR. Pics below. Just curious if there is any value (monetary or collectible) in these? thanks View attachment 17139
Some are worth a few bucks , others not. The French ones (in francs) are not worth a lot because they were never used (De Gaulle refused this what he called fake currency, so the G.I.s kept the bills as souvenirs by the thousands. The German ones (in marks) are also easy to find. The small valutas are worth nothing but it's nice to hav the bigger ones. The Italian and Japanese ones are nice too but not rare. What's interesting is the bills issued by the Japanese , for instance in the occupied Dutch east Indies. I opened a thread about this some years ago.
