Welcome , you have a Flieger ( one bird) and a Feldwebel , (the one with the cap and with three birds). The dark colour of the tab (red.) may suggest these men are Flak rather than airmen (yellow background) .. In both cases they are young soldiers (the same man as a cadet and a bit later when he got promoted ? )

Thank you. I'm pretty sure he didn't fly a plane. What is the meaning of the Flieger and the Feldwebel exactly?

Basically a Flieger is a Cadet after he left school (the lowest rank). A Feldwebel would be like a Sergeant or similar. If he were non flying personnal, then the FLAK (artillery option ) would be the most plausible.

    Hi,
Just joined the forum. Looking for as much info I can find on my Mothers cousin,Sgt.Douglas Kingston, 207 Sqn.RAF. He was shot down on 08/09/1941. The aircraft was an Avro Manchester Mk1 L7380,and he was subsequently taken prisoner-of-War, and spent the remainder of the war in Stalag 357 camp, of which I know very little about.

    Welcome aboard both of you.

Martin, you may want to start your own intro thread.
Also consider a thread in the information request subforum asking for info on Sgt Douglas. WW2 talk our sister forum also tends to concentrate on British related things so it may be worth asking there as well.
