W.A.A.F. personnel in balloon command were doing a front line job. These airwomen helped to keep the sea balloon aloft, for among their many important tasks they service the barges and drifters of the water-borne barrage. Daily rations for the men aboard the barges had to be weighed and checked, and then the ration-vessel sets out for the balloon boats. W.A.A.F’s are seen here loading ration containers on to a drifter of the sea balloon fleet.
