My son is doing a report on WW2 and the countries involved. I found this fact that I thought was interesting and was wondering if anyone on here had heard this also and if it is really true? Anyway I read the the 2nd Polish Corp use a bear to help move ammunition from place to place. Has anyone else ever heard this before? thanks.
wonderful : ) Lol never heard of it but google says yes it is true ! Apparently the bear liked a smoke and a drink in between missions... See HERE An truly great story Brandon thanks for sharing. :thumb: I've just found out there's a good chance I'll be visiting Monte Cassino this summer  Anyone else been ?
Well i seen it all now .. I would have never had believed it.. :silly: Would be great to see your report back on this place Dave, one day i may visit this place myself..One Day!! :thumb:
I believe that it was the Poles who finally took the monastary in the 3rd and final assault. They raised their National Flag over it. I had an Uncle who fought in the 8th Army. He was at Monte Cassino. He then went back to England in preparartion for D-Day.
Well done the Poles:thumb:for as we know, it wasn't only the Brits, Germans, Russians and Americans in the War in Europe:tong:
Love the bear story. :thumb: Yes i also read that the Polish were very much involved with the taking of Monte Casino, but like the Falise pocket the Poles are not put on the front page so to speak.
