    Dear all,

My name is Pieter Serrien and I am a Belgian historian and writer. (More info on my books: www.pieterserrien.be/english). My debut gave a voice to hunderds of victims of the American bombing of Mortsel on April 5th, the bloodiest bombing in the Low Countries during WWII (936 deaths).

In my new fitth book (will be published in September 2016) I want to give a voice to the witnesses of the V-bombing war in Belgium. Of course I will focus on the victims of the V1 and V2-attacks on Antwerp, Liège, Brussels... but I also want to tell the forgotten story of the allied soldiers who helped defending our country.

    My best regards,

    Pieter

I hope that once on of my books will be translated. I am still expanding the english parts on my website:

Only on the bombing of Mortsel I have written:
    https://pieterserrien.be/english/bombing-of-mortsel/

This book was translated in English by a victim of the bombing. She lives in the US and wanted her children and grandchildren to know what she has been trough.
But the translation is not yet published. Maybe later this year...

Good to have you here Pieter and impressed by your blog. I have not previously heard of the bombing of Mortsel before and want to learn more.. Have just bought ' Elke dag angst: De terreur van de V-bommen op België (1944-1945) ' . I can understand Dutch if read slowly . Hope that there will be an English translation soon.

Welcome Pieter, I've attached one of two letters from Belgium my father from Scotland kept all his life. I did get help tracing the writer, but i never got a response from her. But she would have likely have been in her 90s when I wrote a few years ago.

It's just a simple letter, but I do like her reference to my Dad's friend George being in the "clink" (jail). I found George's name in the 70Brigade website and discovered he had deserted. That will be why he was in the clink.

I've always been curious too about the "temptations" in Brussels she refers to. Belgium Ltr Pg 1.jpg Belgium Ltr Pg 2.jpg

Have started reading ' Elke dag angst: De terreur van de V-bommen op België (1944-1945) on kindle. Hopefully I am broadly understanding it and looking up some words as I go along. Hope that an English translation will appear. According to my kindle, I am 26% of the way through. Has encouraged me to read more about the V2 and V2 attacks generally, finding it a great read.
