what's your favorite rifle of WWII M1 GARAND M1903A4 Kar98K M1 Carb 91/30 Mosin Nagant M38 tokarev simi auto rifle Enfield Stg 44 Fallschiermjaeger gewer 42 Gew 43 simi auto rifle m44 Mosin Nagant carbine w/ folding bayonet Type 99 7.7mm jap bolt action
what's wrong with you people "the M1 Garand was the best battle implement ever devised" General Patton
How can one even attempt to compare a semi automatic rifle with a bolt action rifle, carbine or an assault rifle? regards
Oops, I misread the question and picked the STG-44 as my fav rifle. But, i'd say K98 Garand G-43 FG-42 Stg-44 or something like that.
to charlie don't surf When I make this comparison it has this in mind. an american with an M1 Garand is facing two germans with Kar98k's which rifle would be better in that situation? I'm sure this kind of stuff happened. Do you think the germans would stand up and yell "Hey no fair you can't use a simi-auto on us!" What about a soldier who drives around in a truck all day and if it wern't for the M1 carbine he would have to carry the Garand. If he carried the Garand would he beat the sh** out of it every time it got in the way? Which was better then? What about when the germans came out with the stg44 did the russians say "You can't use that!"? No they didn't they ducked and covered and when the poor bastard was out of ammo they shot back. What gun was better then? All the time unequal guns were compaired. that's how wars are won. by not making it fair or equal, by getting the upper hand. That's how I can compair these weapons. What do you think? William P.
The question says "favorite" not "best". In either case I have to go with the Stg44. I would also pick this weapon as "most influential". A great weapon, that was imperveous to the elements! Matt
That's a nice way of putting it. Whenever people ask that question of me I just sit and look stupid. Now I'll know what to tell them next time. I'm gonna go with the M1 Carbine. (even though I don't know much about rifles.....)
My favorites are the M1 Garand and then the M1903. As far as the M1 Carbine goes, it didn't have the range that the Garand did...
I've got to go with the Lee Enfield rifle. It saw (correct me if I'm wrong) service during several wars and was well loved among the British troops.
Awwww - I'm sure we can settle it in a gentlemanly manner ! ( I still reckon that the MP44 is the Forum's weapon of choice ! )
