"We are at war? Then God help Germany!"
    -Hermann Göring, september 1939

"Every man with a heart would want to break down and cry, but he can't. So he thrusts his chin out and brags and curses."
    -Patton

"We, who have waged this war, we could not feel pride. Victors and defeated, all were one. We were one with the crowds moving silently along the boulevards of Paris; with the old ladies searching the quiet ruins of Coulogne, the bodies stacked like yellow wood in Dachau, the horribly empty eyes of the defeated German soldiers; the white graves and the black crosses and the never-remitting grief of our hearts. All, all were one."
-Captain Laurence Critchell, 101st US A/B, may 1945

There are several very unusual and quite politically incorrect quotes in the book on the Nazis that I am reading right now. One example is this one by ardent Nazi Julius Streicher:
"Only on a few exceptional points is Hitler comparable to Jesus Christ; Hitler is far too great a man to be compared to such an unimportant figure."
    This ideology really went far...

Here's another. Upon hearing that the Czech would capitulate because of his threat of war, Hitler said to one of his typists:
'This is the greatest day of my life. I will go down in history as the greatest German that ever lived!'

Hitler:"The German soldier in 1943 is not the one how he was in 1941"
Model:"Excuse me, mein Fuhrer, but all German soldiers from 1941 are buried in Russia..."

Yeah, that sounds like something Model would have said. He was one of the *very* few generals who could argue with Hitler after the June 22 assassination attempt.

It was July 22 1944, so back in 1943 Hitler wouldn't have been able to condemn anyone for it.

There were probably only two generals who were not afraid of Hitlers explosions: Model and Guderian. But Guderian lost Fuhrer's mercy later, while Model was a fanatic Nazi until his death, in spite of what he saw during the conferences at OKW.

"In spite of the hardness and ruthlessness I thought I saw in his face, I got the impression that here was a man who could be relied upon when he had given his word." - Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain about Hitler in 1938, days prior to the Munich

"War is to man what maternity is to a woman." - Benito Mussolini

"When the situation is obscure, attack!" - Heinz Guderian

"They have surrendered there [Stalingrad] - formally and absolutely. Otherwise they would have closed ranks, formed a hedgehog, and shot themselves with their last bullet. The man [Paulus] should have shot himself just as the old commanders who threw themselves on their swords when they saw that the cause was lost. Even Varus gave his slave the order: 'Now kill me!'" - Adolf Hitler 1943

"A thousand years hence every German will speak with awe of Stalingrad and remember that is was there that Germany put the seal on her victory." - Hermann Göring broadcast the the German Nation on 30 Jan 1943

"A single death is a tragedy, a million deaths is a statistic" - Josef Stalin

    Good ones, Dzdik! :D
How could Göring still believe his own words three days before the germans in Stalingrad surrendered?

Göring and many other nationalsocialists were known of having a soft spot for myths and legends. I remember Göring compared Paulus´ 6th army to heroes of Nibelungen who died so that the Reich could live forever...I guess that was what he was after having said so.

I believe he even made 2 movies about legendary battles to rally the men. I believe one was call "Der grobe konig" The great king, used to get German troops to defend a city on western front to the last.

Sometimes people who are blind to their own lies wake up too late to them. Therefore they have to lie again to cover the first lie, and so on and so on. :kill: :kill:

This sounds like he made a movie on Charlemagne, Karl der Grosse in German, who lived in Aachen (in the 8th century) which was on the western front of 1944. This king is the ancestor of all trouble concerning the Alsace and Lorraine (Elzas-Lotharingen), and he is admired by both French and Germans.
