My Father-in-Law was killed in his home during an allied bombing raid over Mannheim on 17 August 1943 [est'd date].

I am trying to find any aircrews that might have information regarding this event. I have searched various archives to no avail. Informal word had it that the bomb dropped on his home was launched as an "extra" after the bomber had already departed the targeted area. Bomb was said to be a "block-buster".

Thanks for any help on this!
