umm, since the chat is not directly part of this forum you do unfortunately have to register with it. Passwords are generated and emailed out more or less instantly ( at least mine was). At least if it doesn't work we're no better off than we were before - you cant exactly lose something you never had before!

I can't spend much time on logging in tonight but I'll try +to log in at 9pm BST tomorrow (BST = GMT +1hr) I'll try and familiarise myself with the admin side to se if I can speed things up a bit as it's a pain waiting 3-4 secs to see what you've typed in appear in the chat screen.

I just managed to change my password without any difficulty so at least that function works as do the smileys. The thrid option shown at the log in page is the one that works most reliably. The one with "uses frames but not Javascript" or along those lines

    No, you're not.

    That solved the issue, thanks.

Nor do some others it seems! I may/will have to take it down and look for another one, though options are limited (this was the second we tried). I cannot use any php stuff as that would require access to this boards host/server and changes to the boards code, this is not possible as only the owner has this access and I am crap at code.

I am only left with 3rd party efforts hosted on the forums subdomain on my own host. Not ideal as we will probably experience much the same problems.

OK, I tried fixing the log in problems to no avail so have taken the chat ndown completely until we/I can find a reasonable alternative that actually works. Sorry folks

Don't worry about it, I'm really grateful for your efforts anyway. I'm sorry it doesn't work but i doubt it's your fault. ;)
