Colonel Hans Von Luck

    One of my personal favorite commanders during the war, would have to be Colonel Hans Von Luck. He eventually rose to become commander of the 125th Panzer Regiment. IMHO I think he was one of the better small unit leaders. He fought in North Africa with the 7th Panzer Division and in Russia with the 21st Panzer Regiment. He also fought in Operation Goodwood, where he was credited with destroying an entire tank group with just 4 88mm guns.

    He wrote a book called 'Panzer Commander' in case anyone is interested.
    A good read.

    Yes, it is a good book. It gives a good insight into the professional outlook and conduct of an average German officer.
