    Some might object to the addition of color, but the final effect are nothing short of exceptional.

    Lovely pics, one of Burnside makes me think of the actor David Jason.
    I really ought to look into the ACW in more depth one day.

    Many of the pictures taken during the Civil War were taken with stereo cameras. If you want to see something really amazing find the books the Civil War In Depth. They have the stereoscopic photos in their original format (post war many were cut into two individual copies) and a viewer to make you see them as a 3D image. The level of detail and the ability to discern topography are incredible.

    You won't be disappointed. Some of the pictures are stunning when viewed in the original format. A couple that come to my mind are the sunken road at Antietam/Sharpsburg and some of the casualties around Petersburg. I think I'll pull mine down off the shelf and look at them again this weekend. The wife really did well when she bought them for me.

    I'm still amazed by them. Note the one with Young Custer during the Civil war. The one with General Pershing is a must see too
