I believe Gheorgiu led the Airforce until 1943 (even though he served the ¨pro German regime until 1944). . He was replaced in 1943 (or 1944.) by Ionescu . I'm not certain but the fact that, Ionescu while having served the Germans until 1944, was decorated by the order of Suvorov in 1945 proves he siwtched sides and had Stalin's favors at least until he could be replaced. A romanian source mentions he was replaced in August 1944 . My knowledge does not go beyond the WW2 period.
