Convoy rescue ships

I was doing some research into the Battle of the Atlantic and came across photos and information about the convoy rescue ships. I was musing over it and wondered if there had to be one or two of those ships attached to every Atlantic and Arctic convoy that sailed during the battle?

Well, between these two sites, you should be able to find what you are looking for.

You can find the names of all the convoy rescue ships here: Convoy Rescue Ships Service

Then you can search for the ships' names here(Click on the "Ship Search" link): Arnold Hague Convoy Database

This is the return I got for the Aboyne: Arnold Hague Convoy Database

I don't know if the Arnold Hague Convoy Database has all of the convoys, but it has A LOT(28,156).

Edit: the link to the Aboyne may be somewhat funky, if it takes you to the main page, click on the "Ship Search" link. The return for the Aboyne found her to have been in 70 convoys during World War II.

I realise this is a very old post, but I was wondering if you have got any pictures of the Rescue Ship Aboyne or could point me in the right direction to find one?

You might want to try searching at 7seasvessels.com but I can't get to them right now.

 

Searching photoship.co.uk the various names from 7seasvessels turned up only this one of her under the name "City of Hamburg"
