Brian, those are quite rare photgraphs of the Alecto that you posted. There weren't many Alecto's made and mostly as test/experimental from what I can gather. There was a bit of interest from the guys over on Missing Lynx allied modellers forum over those pic's and your photo's of the Comet and Centurion. Thanks very much for posting them.

    My Pics.

Errrrr? what's a sticky? I'm afraid much of this modern lingo goes past me!
Cholbert. The 1st Kings Dragoon Guards decided in the Western Desert that they needed an SP troop to back up their armoured cars. I do have a full write up on the development of this Squadron, the vehicles and the guns they used and the problems they came up against. Suffice to say that by the time of the Italian campaign they had quite a reputation and were often in action when the cars were not. I believe they received their Alectos in Palestine in early 46 and I had them in Barce (Libya). I know we left them to the 13/18th. Hussars there in early 48 and later were handed over to the 16/5th. Lancers, I guess they were left in Libya, but I have never tracked them down after that, I must have a word with Mr.Gaddafi!!! I do have manual details and pics of the Alecto but probably not good enough to post. The photo below are them at Barce 47/48.
The hard to see pic is from Regimental Journal Jan.47. with two Gun Troop pics.
Also Cholbert if you want Manual Details of Sizes, Diagrams, anything to do with Alecto for models , I have your address and will send Photo Copy if you so wish.(unless you've moved home?)

A sticky is basically a thread which stays at the top of the section, even though there are threads with newer posts (e.g. the 'Sticky: How to post pictures ?' thread in this section).

    Thank you!

GV, Quadruple post,? too true, don't know what happened.
Christian, thanks for info re 'sticky', if you feel it is ok do that.
now, an idea, on the 'Service Pals' Web Site, (all 'old Codgers' like me) there is a 'Computer question and Answer' thread, quite useful, questions get asked and answered and what seem problems to some are sorted out by others.
I must admit I don't know what some posters on here are writing about, do you think we could have one here, a sort of 'Question and Answer' page?

    Re: Thank you!

That is mostly what this section is for, though if you mean linguistical questions you could try adding to one of the many threads in the Members Lounge regarding other people's language and languages... ;)

What kind of questions did you have in mind? If you could define them a bit more closely I may see the need to create such a topic after all.

    post subject

I am refering to computer faults that crop up from time to time, on personal computers; I know very little about computers and am the first to admit it, linguistical questions I can cope with, in any case the thread if any, does need to be taken out of this photo thread.
