How does one become apart of such things? I've never seen or heard of any around where i live despite there being American Revolution Reenacments and Civil War ones around where i live - (Jockey Hollow - aka Where George W spent the harshest Winter of the war - is my backyard) (G-Burg - an hour down the road from where i go to college) - but no WWII. I am a big enthusists and own my late grandfathers Log Book etc from the war (he was a Bombardier in a Lancaster for the UK Airforce)
Indeed, your division and site is awesome! A few corrections of the German commands... (I ignored upper and lower case) Gewehr abnehMEN unsling arms Setzt die GewehrE zusammen stack arms Seitengewehr pFlanzt auf fix bayonets Rechts _ schwenKt marsch column right march Links schwenKt marsch column left march Halbrechts schwenKt marsch column half right march Halblinks schwenKt marsch column half left march BATTLE COMMANDS Tiefflieger (or flieger) (STRAFING) combat plane AuSsteigen get out of vehicle Alles bereit| everything is ready Scharfschuetze| sniper
Knight, I think maybe the commands were not inaccuratly translated so much as translated into familiar equivilants, but either way thanks for the list, they will prove useful for me. Eisenhower, it really depends what you want to join, I began re-enacting at 15 (I joined a 12th SS unit) and have been involved for 3 years now. There are one or two topics on here already full of advice but I reckon first you should look at as many units as possible and decide what nation you want to go for, then look at units that are in your area and look at their eithos, a lot of people are put off living history by finding a unit they like the look of and joining at which point they discover that the eithos of the unit doesn't work for them. Based on what you have said that is all I can think of, hope it helps.
Eisenhower what part of the country do you live in? Like Stefan I too have been reenacting since I was 15. Well I'm off to get my gear ready for a russian front event, have a good weekend everyone.
I was just wondering because depending on where you live I could suggest some good units for you. I know there's a pretty good 17th SS unit out around texas. I'll have to find the link for you if you want. Well back to getting ready for the russian front, Modus will be there too.
if all there is is an SS unit then I'll go with that, but at the moment I'm leaning toward American forces. when you get the link I will be very grateful all the same. grasias
The 17th SS unit looks very good if its the one I am thinking of, there is bound to be a US unit somewhere around. If you give us some details of what you are after we may be able to offer more help. Take a look at www.lssah.com , geat site with loads of good links
I found a link to the WWII reenactment circle on the net. I'll search for a good unit in my area. thanks for the help! maybe I'll see you on the battelfield somewheres.

I didn't mean they were incorrectly translated, there were a few mistakes in German wording/orthography.
Hopefully Modus will have a few more pictures to add here soon. We took a whole bunch at the russian front event we had this weekend.
Just checked them all out, some are a little blury, but they kick ass. After looking at the pictures of me in an overseas cap I must now go and buy my own.
