Just found this link for a crazy weapon that was in looked at for the war in the pacific.

    http://www.murdoconline.net/archives/002367.html#more

Basically the idea was to fill a large bomb with bats, that carry small incendiary device, that were timed to go off a bit later on.

Mainly aimed at the paper and wood built houses in Japan.

The Japanese also tried the 'setting fire to your enemy' technique. They let go a few incendiary balloons, into the jet stream, aimed at landing in amongst the forests of west coast America. And a few of them were successful.

An all black airborne battalion, the 555th (Triple Nickels) were dropped in to put out the fires.

So maybe it wasn't as crazy as it seems.

I don't know, that's sounds pretty crazy to me. It sounds like it would work but on the other hand you try to do that today and allt he animal activists and animal rights people would be all over that. my how time have changed.

Add to this a USAAF plan to bomb Mt Fujiyama with Red Paint, it was believed that this would destroy Japanese Morale.
