    Game 8

    Early-1945.

Our great country, Infantristan, is in trouble. As all our allies have been crushed and we have no oil resources of our own, we are in great need of oil for our people and army. But the solution isn't far away. One of our neighbouring countries, Engineristan, has great amounts of oil in its soil. And our Army still has fuel for one large operation in its containers.

Although Engineristan is rich, it has a rather obsolescent army. This is because Commander-in-Chief General Minanov, an ex-inspector of the Engineering Corps, has moulded the Army into what he passionately loves, the Engineering Troops. Armoured troops are very small and there are almost no aerial units.

The main Army comprises of infantry and engineering units. The engineering units are always favored, used as a fire brigade and best-equipped. Although they're a infantry unit and move by trucks and vehicles specially made for them (ancestors of quads), they can tackle even a mobile tank unit. They know the terrain, and make good use of it.

The terrain of Engineristan varies a lot. There are some desert, some jungle, some steppes and densely populated areas. The desert and steppe areas are the only ways to get to the cities and the oil fields. Minanov knows this, and so they've mined the areas with anti-tank and anti-personnel mines. Our engineers aren't able to clear the minefields and we have no bombers to blow a corridor into the minefield; also our artillery can't afford shooting mines. So, one of our generals got an idea: why won't we make an buy a tank able clear mines. So, we set up this competition to see, whose tank is the best.

    The requirements:

-Capable of dealing with the minefields; no matter how (rollers, blowing the mines etc etc.) but it's just gotta get to the other side and and do it at a sufficient speed: not to be tackled by the artillery
-Main gun capable of dealing with infantry even at long ranges (1 500 m); though there are only infantry to be engaged, Engineristan's dear friend Tankistan may be dragged into this future conflict --> some AT capability needed (Tankistan has M4 Shermans and some T-34s)
-At least one MG, range to be 1 000 m, heavy MG preferred to GPMG
    -Speed limit: road 40 km/h, desert/steppe: 25 km/h, minefield: about 15 km/h (more minefield speed is a bonus)
-Weight limit: see speed limit
-Armour: no need for extra mine protection; even if the tank was heavily armoured, it would be at least immobilized when hitting a mine; mines are suchs imps; however if the tank uses rollers, it's gotta have some frontal armour
-No need for carrying infantry (as operating near the mines)
-It's a bit hard to say what is the title for this vehicle, maybe something like Mine-clearing MBT

I'll go UK again, but this one seems to be the worst task of the lot... and I thought the last one was bad

How do you define "some" AT capability? Does it have to be able to deal with T34s and M4s on equal terms?

    Hmm...

Let's put it: it has to be able to take them out from a half a mile away.

    While clearing mines?

(Just making sure I don't need to redesign my vehicle completely)

    Also, is cost/weight/complexity a factor?

Ok. It seems that the purpose of this tank is not clear, so I'll explain it a bit more.

As the biggest problem for the Infantristani Army is the minefields, the most important of its abilities and its first mission in the combat is to clear them. The tank has to flail the mines/make them explode/plough them ie. make a corridor in the minefield for the infantry and other units. Speed in this mission is considered a plus. Hint: Flail is maybe the worst solution, I advice you to use your imagination.

When the tank has cleared the minefield, it will support infantry and engage the enemy. NB: Main of the enemy forces are infantry, tanks will be faced, only if Tankistan joins the conflict.

The task from the most important to the least important: 1) cope with the minefield 2) engage the infantry 3) engage the tanks (not very important)

    Hope it's clear now.
