Bravo Ron. You traveled some of the same rout as my father who was born in 1921. He was in the 1st Ranger Btn from Gela to Anzio and the FSSF after that.

What caused me to check this DDay thread was seeing our local DDay vet on his walk around town this afternoon. He told me he went in on the 2nd wave.

Mark your calendars! The 2018 D-Day event is scheduled to take place August 17 – 18, 2018. The beaches and Lake Erie shore in Conneaut, Ohio will be transformed into a living tribute to honor the veterans of WWII. If you haven’t had the opportunity to view this event – you are missing it. Rain or Shine, this is the largest D-Day living history event in the country! The reenactment will feature over 1800 reenactors from across the country and even Canada! In 2016, D-Day organizers reported that they proudly hosted 150 WWII veterans at the event.

I can't be there, but if you would be so good as to take pictures and video it would rate as a highlight here.
