Sad to see Israel government actions, conducting operations in a crowded urban zone under blockade with...attack planes and main battle tanks.

What's next ? Nuking Hamas' HQ and then apologies for collateral damages ?

Sad to see the gap between a once respectable Government and a criminal terrorist organisation is slowly tightening on the subject of value of civilian lifes.

Sad to see people considering you have to either side with any Israel Government action or with Hamas terrorists.

Sad to see people all over the world taking Jews, Israeli or not, for scapegoats of any Israel Government's action.

Sad to see people all over the world taking Palestinans for scapegoats of any Hamas action.

That is the nature of discussion, wouldn't it be horrible if during conversation every five minutes somebody turned around and said 'hey, hang on, this isn't what we started talking about! No changing the subject!'

    What was the original topic?

    *scrolls back*

Ah yeah, Muslims telling Jews to get back in the Ovens!

Honestly, I don't see what Israel is doing in Gaza as being a bad thing. If the terrorists hide amongst the civilians then use, collateral damage is going to intensify. And using precision bombs is much more effective and less deadly then carpet-bombing the place with 'Flying Fortresses'.

Look at it this way: If your neighbor is throwing stones through your window, occasionally hitting you or your family, what are you going to do? I for one would react, and if they continued to throw stones through my window, I would do everything in my power until their stopped or left.

Including killing random neighbors ? :D

As per now, even after the summer 2006 show of force, there are still rockets firedt from Lebanon to north Israel.

Will the winter 2009 show of force put a durable end to rocket firing against south Israel ? As per yesterday, rockets were still fired from Gaza.

Turning Gaza into a slum, then turning this slum into a pile of rubbles, only makes people living there more dependent to such groups as Hamas to survive, and more hateful against Israel.

The feud between you and your neighbor afflicts your other neighbors too. A few of those rocks miss, and hit their windows too.

Its the nature of modern warfare. What do you think Israel should do then, when more rockets at fired at them? Just sit back and watch the show? If they break the peoples will, then the people aren't going to back Hamas.

    Look at WWII for examples.

What was the point of firebombing cities, carpet bombing cities? We clearly didn't need to kill millions of citizens that way, but it was the only way to break their will to fight. Unconditional surrender. If we had settled for anything else, we'd still be fighting WWII today.

Israel needs to take out Hamas - utterly and completely destroy it - and defeat the will of the people of Gaza. If people in Gaza see that they're gonna have their homes destroyed, friend and relatives killed, then they'll eventually understand that to make that stop happening, they need to stop firing rockets into Israel.

If they can't see that, if they're too blinded by the lies the Fantatics tell them, if they're worse then the Nazis in their will to exterminate all Jews, then whats coming for them is coming, and it isn't going to stop in our lifetimes.

Mussolini, you brought up the adage of neighbours and stones.

    History is a similar adage.

    I aint got a side.

I do know that if someone hits me I will hit back.

I also know someone has lived on their laurals of invinciblity in the dark tools and dark places for years now. Perhaps that invincibiltiy and those tales were just that. Tales, Why else would the dark nights have not been used as the playground they espouse so much and done us all a favour and proved their skills.

I see no skills here apart from a one sided slaughter.

Do you force your neighbor to live in your hallway and make him go trough checkpoints everytime he wants to go to the bathroom??

    Cheers...

The Israelis do not force the Gaza's to stay there. They're more then welcome to vacate the area. They aren't being held against their will. They chose to stay there. Due to their history of violence and suicide bombing, its better to check them at checkpoints then search for their body parts after the fact. And how is that different then other border? American/Mexican border for instance? (apart from the bombings/terrorism).

Look at this way too: If you're neighbor said he was hell bent on seeing your destruction, no matter the cost, would you freely allow him onto your property?

I'd bomb it while he was out. He's out by the way...the neighbour...he's whizzing around Quatar at this moment shaking hands....the only thing whizzing around his neighbourhood is white things that burn.

Maybe the clever nations amongst us should target the guys when they are hand grabbing and not their neighbours children when the real culprits are out getting a suntan.

It clearly worked as well, I mean, the blitz certainly broke the will of the British people and the Germans stopped fighting the second their cities were firebombed...

...oh, hang on, no. Bombing and killing civilians simply turns them into enemies. Maybe that is what Israel is trying to do, get everyone to support Hamas so that they all suddenly become enemies.

But since it's fanatics firing the rockets, fanatics with guns that women and children aren't going to be able to stop one way or another, they aren't really going to be able to stop them. Moreover, destroying their homes is likely to push them into the arms of people they see as fighting for them, just grist to the mill of the fanatic.

Spare us the maudlin sentiments. It's not the choice of the Israeli government but of Hamas. Hamas wants the Israeli's to kill as many Palestinian civilians as possible, while the Israeli's are striving to limit civilian casualties as much as possible.

What is sad is to see people buying Hamas BS. Where was your "sadness" when Hamas was sending homicide bombers and rockets into Israeli civilian neighborhoods deliberately seeking to kill civilians?

The UN couldn't keep the peace at a sunday school picnic.

I want this to end only when there is a situation where the Israelis and Palestinians can live without fear of some lunatic launching rockets into civilian neighborhoods on a whim, or sending maniacs to blow themselves up and kill peaceable civilians. If that means every last Hamas member needs to be killed, then so be it. If that means killing Palestinian civilians, then so be it. If it means destroying Israel, then so be it. But another sixty years of continuing warfare is unacceptable.
